Hey guys, let me just say thank you before I even get answers. I love this community and what you all do. Anyway, I just picked up a working Viewlix virtua tennis cab. it comes with naomi 1 with a GD ROM. I'd like to get Capcom vs SNK 2 in there and/or Marvel vs Capcom 2. So i THINK i need the Capcom i/o (according to what i have read here and there).

My questions are as follows.

1. I dont see a jamma harness in this thing which is kind of weird. Do I need to put a jamma harnes in just to get the Capcom I/O working? (i see the male side of the jamma on all the capcom I/Os i have seen so far)

2. Is there anyway to get the 6 button set up working WITHOUT a Capcom I/O if so, what do I need to do to get it wired up?

Again, thank you guys.

Wow, We're doing the same thing except I got Virtua Tennis 2 (but in a different cab). Well, the Capcom IO needs a jamma harness, and all the naomi IOs CAN take 6 buttons (not positive on the JVS, but I think the top one allows for a kick), but only the Capcom has a nice slot for it, the others just have the open pins that you need to wire to. Your best shot is here: http://www.sega-naomi.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1265 for reference. It sounds like you have a JVS IO though, so it will depend on what's wired to what in your cab. If the only thing your IO has wired to it is the controls, you should be able to just get a capcom io and jamma harness. But my IO has the lights, sound, and monitor all wired to the harness or IO already. If you can take a pic of the mobo / IO it'd help a lot.

wow what a great link! i do have the jvs i/o here are some pics

Ah, now I see. Well, I've been digging for a JVS pinout but I can't find anything. The closest I was a JVS2JAMMA converter that looks like it was discontinued in 2007. Ok, so we have exactly the same set up in the back end, so theoretically, under your control panel should be two 12 pin molex connectors with the male end coming from the control panel (image 1) and the female end coming from the line of wires from the IO (image 3). If you actually have all 12 pins in the connector from the control panel then you should be set (assuming you already have the quick disconnects, otherwise just wire those in.) Otherwise you'll need to add pins, then wire. So yeah, I'm pretty sure that will work since the Naomi link said that the JVS IO had every possible add-on available. So, that will take you up to 4 buttons each. For the other two...I THINK one of the ones in image 2 is the kick harness essentially. I'd test it myself but I'm still waiting on parts to arrive, but since those are the only three open connectors in the control panel, I figure one of them is the right kick.

You could also pull just pull the JVS for the capcom IO, then wire the buttons and sound for jamma, or just the buttons and leave the audio amp in.

The prons and cons of each were discussed over here -> http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showt...is-harder-than-I-thought-quot-Naomi-thread-of by SamuraiShodown and Supasaru. The jist of it is the JVS leaves you more options, but JAMMA is easier to wire / plug and play. Either way your going to need to do a bit of wiring, so its up to you whether you go JAMMA or not.

Oh, also, I did end up finding the JVS pinout in that thread: http://www.tms-designs.com/theshed/default.asp?stockid=1718
So it has support for 7 buttons per player + more.

Hoped this helped a bit
