I'm running a Capcom I/O on my MVC2 cab and I can only get mono output through the JAMMA harness with it.

is there a way to run stereo out on these or do I need a separate amplifier to achieve this?

it's likely it might and my JAMMA harness in this Atari 33" showcase just isn't pinned for it, but I just wanted confirmation.

mono's ok on it, but it's made to run stereo, so why not, right?

Sorry to post to a necro thread, but did you ever figure out how to go stereo mode? I am wondering the exact same thing..

Standard Jamma is mono so chances are the cabinet is as well. Best option would be an amp(hell even the sega one) and just run the rca cables from the naomi board to it instead of running it to the converter and wire the speakers directly to said amp.

This is a qSound amp set isn't it?

Should I hook up the rca cables from the naomi board to this board? or should I run two rca cables...

Naomi Board --> Capcom I/O --> Amp --> Speakers ?

I guess any limiting of the volume would be done in the game menu, because I don't see any knobs or headers on this amp for volume control.

Or should I just go directly from my naomi board to the amp?

Thanks for the help all, much appreciated ! =)

One last question though, what are the ohms generally on the speakers that go with the qSound amp?

ah ha.. Well I originally tried naomi -> amp .. but there was no way to adjust the volume without adding a pot between the speakers..

So I went naomi --> capcom i/o -> amp .. and now I can control the volume with the capcom i/o volume knob.. but I am not sure if its still in stereo mode

If you are getting your sound from the JAMMA connector it's by definition going to be mono. So unless you are connecting your sound from the Capcom I/O in stereo,it's mono. It should be pretty easy to tell though if you put your head directly between the speakers and listen to it for more than a few seconds. If the sound is identical in both ears it's mono, if not stereo. :)

I don't know what I was thinking when I made this thread, I should have really just asked if the JAMMA harness in the showcase did stereo lol

the Sega amp requires a volume pot for sure. I've never had a Q-sound amp, I think that's menu controlled.

I unfortunately have no idea of the wiring pinout for the Sega amp's pot or what the resistance is on it. maybe friday I'll dig into my stash of game stuff and find out. we'll see.

Ended up using an old Sega amp and went naomi -> sega amp since I have 4ohm speakers..

I wasn't using the jamma pins on the capcom i/o, there was one set of RCA jacks on each side of the capcom i/o: one for input, one for output (near the jamma connector)

Is the RCA port on the jamma side of the capcom i/o mono?

I guess it doesnt matter now anyway =) thanks for the help
