I have a Nanao monitor that has a non-working 2931 chassis. It worked initially, but died earlier this year. I was able to acquire a 2930 chassis and installed it today. It is supposed to be compatible with the same tube as the 2931. However, the monitor is still not working. When I power it up, there is now a blue/purple glow in the neck of the tube for 1 or 2 seconds, along with a slight buzzing sound, but no image ever appears on the screen. After that one or two seconds, there is no buzzing or glow from the neck or any indication that it is powered on. The game itself is playing blind. When the 2931 chassis died, there was no neck glow or noise at all coming from the monitor.
Is this an indication of a bad tube? Much of the research I've done seems to suggest that this is arcing within the neck and a sign that either the tube or yoke are bad. The cabinet and monitor have never been moved, and I can't see any cracks.
