This is what I know about 'em.

  • Almost all say BALLY.
  • Some are dated 1976.
  • Not sure if the white ICs are Z80s.
  • TV is noted on one two boards
  • each board has locking clips similar to Gorf cage pcbs
  • size is about 12" x 12", edge connector on one side only
  • One card says "Bally Interface Card"
  • One card says "Bally Computer Card"
  • There are a couple Bally Power supply cards
The more I think about this, I'm leaning more towards these being either from a slot machine, or from Bally ASTROCADE. I doubt its the later only because I can't imagine all three boards fitting into the Astrocade case.

I checked pinballs within the 1976ish range and haven't found any pinball boards that look remotely like these.

Any thoughts? Some have acid damage but most look to be fully populated.

Man, was hoping to see some professor pac boards. PP used a card rack setup with about 6 boards in it.
Those boards look like they are probably pre 1980 vintage, have no idea really. Thats some serious acid damage on the one.
Those eproms look pretty vintage as well.

I responded in another thread, but will post here for completeness. :) They might be Bally Video Poker boards. It was Black and White and came out in 1976. A competitor came out with a color poker game within the next year. I wonder if that video daughter card is a color conversion card based on what the board says and my hypothesis of what the boards might be.

You said you might e-scrap them, but if they are from the original video poker or black jack machines that Bally did, it seems like they would be worth some money to the right person. Of course it is probably a PITA to figure out if that's what the boards are unless someone dumps the ROMs or something.

Yes, alot of the slot machines and poker games used card setups. Judging by their age thats probably what they are from.

Which board normally shits the bed on PP?

The cpu, which uses the same customs used in gorf. Also the game baord which is almost always acid damaged from batterys. I narrowed my problem down to two custom chips that dont seem to be used on anything but the professor pac.

I'll have to pull out the schems some time and take a look...

Since the fpgaarcade guys have astrocade games working, they should be relatively close to being able to make replacements for the customs.
