Well folks, im back from vacation and its time for another round of... Name.. That... MONITOR!!!! (cue game show music)

Anyway, I got a cab w/ a monitor from SpartyMac and im trying to figure out what exactly it is and get a manual or something for it so that I can get it wired up. Here is a link to the photos that I have of it :

http://picasaweb.google.com/SiLeNt.NiNjA1/WGMonitor?authkey=Gv1sRgCNrnwd-Cu8KuTw&feat=directlink

Now for the labels that I see on it, on the front is marked 30-55F in marker, a sticker on the side that I cant get a good photo of says "WG M2730-UOA S5 5F" Then there are 2 plainly visible stickers - "WG1246069" and "025A1442-001A".

Now it wouldnt be a gameshow w/o a prize, now would it? I have a spare MK2 Op Manual that was given to me w/ a pcb awhile back, if whoever can name the monitor and get me info on wiring it / specs wants it, Ill ship it out.

I'm thinking WG U3000.

looks much like the one that's in our Road Burners, 27"

what did you need to know about wiring it up? are you coming in from a VGA cable to an RGB signal header?

K8000 has a larger power supply board mounted on the side. it also had some weird ribbon cables for the remote board. I have greater familiarity of the K8000, it's actually very K7000-like.... this chassis looks more like the newer stuff Wells put out, like the K7400/K7500, albeit very different.

like I said, only time I saw one of these monsters was in Road Burners, a monitor that I probably need to recap, but never got around to it. lol

it hooks up with a regular RGB header, despite being VGA. on the other hand, I have a 19" Vision Pro that's like the U3100 that has an actual VGA monitor cord like on a comp monitor.

I'm voting U3000 too based on how populated that board is. The 8000's had less parts if I recall right.

+1
U3000

That label on the side looks like it may say WGM 2730

You can also always look for the little white labels or screen printed numbers on any WG circuit board and look for the "P ###" numbers. (P736 being a U3000 main chassis)

Well, I found a P756 on the board up on the right side. That seems to match w/ this from the WG website :

P756 POWER SUPPLY 27K3003 WGM2730-U0TS55F WGM2792-U0TS42A DIGITAL 3 MODE OPERATION

It does have a VGA cable in there, SpartyMac had it up with his multicade, but said he was pretty sure it was dual res. Im trying to figure out how to get the lower resolutions up on it to work with a Namco 246 ect, if its capable of it. According to the spec sheet, its capable of displaying the Std, Med, or vga res if Im reading this right

RESOLUTION
Graphics modes: VGA: 640 X 200, 640 X 350, 640 X 480
Video bandwidth: 25 MHz typical.

Thanks, and quick replies!

U3000 was VGA only. tri-res didn't come along until the D9200. dual res CGA/EGA of course was the U5000.

I know, the naming conventions are kinda weird. the lineup initially was the U2000 = standard res, U5000 = standard res/medium res, then after the U5000 proved problematic Wells-Gardner separated the U5000 into the K7400 = standard res and K7500 = medium res. then when high resolution games came along, they did the U3000 = high res.

correct any mistakes I may have made, gents.

adapter boards exist I guess for CGA/EGA on VGA. IMO I would MAME that thing out and utilize the monitor's higher resolution. (and I'm anti-MAME)

Thanks for the info. In that case, Ill probably just toss it up in the FS section and see if someone would make a straight up trade for it on something that will fit in the cab its sitting in atm. It is a pretty large screen, so hopefully someone will want it.

Thanks
