It is not a standard upright, obviously.

Manufactured in the 80's.

The first photo shows an area that would normally be covered when in operation.

Thought it'd be fun to see if anyone knows what they're looking at!

Afterburner deluxe maybe? It obviously has some movement but the second pic is so close that I could confuse it with most carnival rides...
 
He said it was manufactured in the 80's, so that should rule out R360. I have seen the inside of a few R360s and they were all painted with a grey high solid, not a red. Of course, they could have just used whatever was cheapest during the manufacturing run...

The second picture should be the giveaway for anyone
that's ever had to work on this thing. An upgrade kit
fixed the issue shown, although this one is still original.
