I bought a game that is JAMMA with 2 joysticks and 3 buttons each. I was wanting to play some Shoot 'Em Up games (they are among my favorite). I am going to be saving my money to get some games but I was wondering of some titles I should be looking into.

Standard Shoot 'Em Ups are TATES (meaning vertically oriented monitor games). I want to know of as many YOKO (meaning horizontally oriented monitor games) SHMUPS as you guys can thing of. I am looking for games that are JAMMA compatible or plug into a MOBO that is JAMMA. Also only looking for titles that are Standard Resolution.

Here's what I have so far...

Cotton Boomerang (SEGA ST-V)
Cotton II (SEGA ST-V)
Radiant Silvergun (SEGA ST-V)
Terra Driver (SEGA ST-V)
Death Smiles
Mars Matrix (CPS2)
Progear Storm of Progia (CPS2)

Let me know if there's anything else I should try. Please include the system (if applicable) with the title. Thanks!

Re-defining orientation isn't necessary. Vertical and horizontal work fine.
I suggest Mars Matrix. Great game.
I also have P-47 Phantom Figher and love that.

Good luck!

Mars Matrix trumps 90% of the shmup library, easy. Await obligatory "...but Cave/Do Donpachi..." reply. Plus you don't have to rotate your monitor.

...and since we're on a roll with opinions, I always thought "Tate" was such a lame term. As a verb, I get it. Short hand for "rotating your monitor/television/display". As a noun/describer it reeked of an attempt to create redundant terminology. It comes off as a level one conversation test to see if someone is actually into shmups (or hangs out on shmups forum). "Yoko" is very much suffering from the same thing.

Oh, and I'm sad that I don't see Life Force mentioned. Easily one of the greatest horizontal shmups ever.

Granted, you will pay a good price for it, but it is well worth it.
