I want to get stereo sound out of a Namco System 1 PCB, Splatterhouse to be exact. The board has hookups for "L" and "R", which can be seen in the photo. Only "R" has a connector soldered to the board, would this be becasue the left stereo channel would play out through the jamma connector if it was playing in stereo?

Simply hooking up a speaker to the "R" connector only plays mono sound through that speaker, since turning the balance all the way to "L" still allows sound to play through the speaker (hooked up to "R").

There is a three prong connector seen in the other photo marked "stereo/mono". I assume this has something to do with it. The game Pac-mania is a Namco System 1 game and has the same type of connectors and three prong setup, and is I was told that the stereo is activated by jumping two of those three terminals. But I am not sure if this is correct or which terminals to jump. The link is to a Pac-Mania schematics, and the diagram of what I am reffering to is on sheet 2A.

Hooking up to the "L" and "R" on the board is no problem. I just need to know how to actually get stereo out of the board, and if I do, do I need to use the "L" channel off of the board or will the jamma connector play the left side audio?

Ah ok, cool. Those pics help. The 2nd pic (JP4) is of a jumper block. You can remove the jumper "shunt" (which is currently connecting pins 2-3 out of the 3) and put it on the other 2 pins (pins 1-2). Once you do that the board should be outputting stereo (maybe... the Pac-Mania schematics make it look like pins 2-3 are stereo? Hmm.).

As for whether in stereo mode the left channel would output through the harness I have no clue. I guess try changing JP105 to jumper the other 2 pins and afterwards see what the right channel is doing with balance biased completely to the left channel.

Left output always goes to the JAMMA connector. So when you set the jumper to stereo, you'll need to take the right output from the 2 pin J106 connector and add an extra speaker.

O.k., according to the schematics of the Pac-Mania, which would be the " + " and which would be the " - " on the "R" output of the board? Or does it matter???

Hiiiii, everybody!

Does anyone have a link to the connector and pin type required for the R channel pinout? Thanks to anyone who can help.
