Hey guys-- new guy here, just got my first few cabs. I was given a Namco Quick & Crash that's not working, and have been trying to figure out the problem. I looked over all the boards, and everything looked good until I got to the board the light gun is connected to. Previous owner had disassembled it, and now I can see why.

The board is called the "Xenon Driver Board" in the manual. It's the board right next to the board that creates the light pulses that go from the gun to "shoot" targets. Seems like something (transistor or capacitor? Sorry, new at this) burned up pretty good. Singed the spot on the board and singed the molex power connector next to it (see pics).

I've done some searching for parts online and am not finding anything. So my question: can this be repaired? The molex plastic doesn't appear to be melted, it might be salvageable, but the capacitor/resistor/whatever was in that spot obviously needs replacement.

Alternatively, does anyone have parts for this game they'd be willing to sell? I'd like to get it up and running again.

Thanks in advance!

I bet it can be fixed assuming not too much got burned up. If you can't get it fixed let me know what you want for your xenon bulb board :). I have a qnc that just went down and I think the bulb finally went.

It's actually in my Mom's garage--don't have room for it at my place yet. I can stop by and snap a pic of it though, sure.

Nice to meet someone else who has this beast :)

Can you identify that little thing (what is that? Transistor? Sorry I'm a noob with these types of electronics, though I work in IT) for me so I know what to order? I'm going to give it a shot and see I can get it working.

There's another part the previous owner took out that has some semi-melted wires on it. I'm attaching a picture of it. Do you know where this part goes? I haven't been able to find it in the manual (yet).

I will snap a picture of the part you need next time I'm by the machine. As for your picture, I don't think that's part of a quick n crash unit. I haven't seen that anywhere in my cab and I've been all up in all parts of it!

Much appreciated! I wonder if the person was trying to use this to replace another part? Clearly didn't work so well.

The previous owner also pulled out the transformer in the base of the cabinet, right under those two boards--not sure why.

Thanks again!

Went over and got that photo for you yesterday (see attached). I also took some photos of that area, which has had several parts removed. Could you take a few pictures of the inside of your gun cabinet for me? I want to be clear where everything goes.

Also, any info on that capacitor I need to replace? (I looked it up, apparently it's a type of capacitor - thanks Google).

Thanks again for all your help--keeping my fingers crossed that I can fix this monster up and see it play :)

I know the Bulb board is on the left and the PCB is on the right. Youll want to CAREFULLY bend the glass tube back into alignment of the 'fuse holder'. The optic from the gun rests in the that holder and must align with the flash from the bulb to work properly. The transformer sits directly below the boards on the base of the cabinet. I thought my tech said that piece was a type of rectifier but Ill double check that again.(edit: he said it was a bridge rectifier)Be super careful with the xenon bulb, while under power it gets 270V AC which could be deadly. Its also nearly impossible to replace if you break it.

Looks like your fan is missing too, that goes in the hole at the bottom of that metal box. The metal box has the metal tabs on the side where your mounted boards will sit

Yeah, I found the blade part from the fan, the rest is gone. I can probably hook up a standard PC case fan or something right?

Good catch on that bend on the light tube--that could have caused some headaches. Thanks!

And thanks for the caution warning--I will definitely stay away from there when the power is on.

So your tech says that part that burned up is a "bridge rectifier"? Does he know what model/part no. I should look for?

Really appreciate the info, thank you :)

Heres a pic of my drive board. I couldnt get a good snap of the piece you need unfortunately. We replaced the filter cap last year as well at the top of the board. I checked the schematics too and it doesnt show that sadly. Let me know if I can be of any other help!

I think I have one of these board and the Xenon lamp(s) New Old Stock. I believe I saw something that looks like the pictures in my Namco stash.

I'll check later today.

Thanks SavePointVG, appreciate the photo. Unfortunately without knowing what that part is, I'm not sure what to order so I can replace it :(

Mylstar - do you have the Xenon drive board from SavePointVG's photo? I'd be interested if you do, please let me know. Hopefully you have the Xenon lamp board for SavePointVG to fix up his Q&C too. Thanks for posting!

Crud :( Ok, thanks for looking. SavePointVG should be able to fix up his Q&C at least!

Anyone else that can identify that part, please contact me. I still want to get this beast fixed. Thanks!

Hey SavePointVG, have you had a chance to get a closer look at that part? Still want to get this monster going.

Anyone else?
