Hey Everyone -

I'm having some trouble with a new machine I picked up recently. The guns don't seem to be functioning properly. 1st player gun registers a shot towards the top right hand corner of the screen and no where else (ammo reduces & visible blast on screen). Aiming off the screen doesn't reload either. 2nd player gun doesn't show a shot on the screen at all (screen still flashes but no ammo is being reduced, and shot blasts aren't showing up). So here are my questions:

1. How do i know which manufacturer made this gun so I can order replacement parts?
2. Is there a way to tell what type of gun it is? (i've been reading a lot on these forums about light gun, optic gun, IR gun, etc... how do you tell the difference?)

I'm going to try swapping the 1st player lens (looks scratched) with the 2nd player lens and see if that solves one of the issues. If there is any information anyone could provide I would greatly appreciate it.

u need to post a pic of the guns so we can see what type it is as many guns can work with the same cab. cleaning or replacing the lenses will help too. also inside of the gun there is a light sensor board. You may need to replace this for the gun that is dead. First clean the lense as it costs nothing to do.

Just finished taking the 1st gun apart. The lens is damaged. Going to grab lens out of 2nd gun and see if that fixes it. I'll grab my camera and post some pics in a few minutes.

Ok replacing the lens didn't help. BUT, I did find the part/model number of the gun. it was molded to the inside of the gun:

Happ Recoil Gun #96-0286-XX Rev. F

I'm thinking of just ordering new Optic Gun PCB's. Do you think this will do the trick?

I tried the gun calibration in the I/O options setup and still nothing.

During the calibration, should I be seeing something on the screen to be able to tell whether or not I'm hitting the with my aiming?

use default calibration setting, instead of manual calibration (the one that need you to shoot at cross mark at the screen). see what happen.

I haven't seen a setting for "default calibration" unfortunately. I'll do some more digging to see what I can find.

Finally got around to messing with this one again but, I'm still having problems. I was able to get gun 1 to register a shot on the screen but, only in the top right hand corner like usual. It would move a little bit towards the top of the screen but would never follow my actual movement. Gun 2 still does not register a shot. I tried using my DMM which has a logic test function but, I'm not sure if it can be used in this application. But, I hooked the red lead up to the signal wire and the black to the ground (optic gun pcb ground for +5VDC) and the logic never changed from the Lo state on either gun. Even though gun1 was registering a shot on the screen it never changed on my DMM. So, what do you think of this:

1. My DMM can't be used like this-check it with a normal logic probe
2. the gun optic boards are bad
3. the I/O input board is bad
4. sell it while you can

I can't even find an I/O board for this thing so I'm praying that's not the problem.
