I own both an original DK and one of these.. and I love both because I love Donkey Kong. The PCB is made by NAMCO, and the programming is absolutely 100% spot on with timing and graphics/sounds. This is not the shitty 60-1 emulated DK or DKjr. Just like the Class of '81, it is what it is. Except this triple DK version is super rare compared to the C/O '81 and near impossible to find.
Being an original collector, I don't get the hate for this.. if you don't like it for what it is, just pass on it. Sure it's a 25" monitor, but it's a real monitor and not the LCD crap. Joysticks if in good shape (I bought new ones) are positive and provide great movement for new hardware. If you aren't getting good movement, you're playing a defective game.
One of the other things I like about this is I was never very good at DKjr.. so the continue on that has helped me practice on the upper level screens. On DK I just refuse to use the continue, plain and simple. Don't like continue? Don't use it!!
This machine is worth the OP's asking price, go ahead and try to shit on this thread, this game is worth it in this market whether you like it or not. Hell, I sold my C/O '81 for $900 pretty easy and this one is much, much harder to find.
GLWS. You may be better off on Ebay if it doesn't sell here.
