Is the Namco version of Dig Dug rare ? I never see one , only the atari version .

Wait I'm confused Dig Dug was originally Atari's right?
What happened? Did they sell off there rights for that game or something?

Just like with Pac-Man, Galaga and Mappy, Namco created Dig-Dug and licensed it to other companies. Many of Namco's early creations went to Bally/Midway, but Atari picked up Dig-Dug.

Namco designed Dig-Dug boards actually share the same pinout as Galaga, Bosconian and Mappy. Atari converted them to 2 different versions of single large boards as you most commonly see.

See both versions of the title screen below

And then Atari Version 1 and Version 2 of their boards.. I can't find a picture of the Namco board but believe it to be similar to the Mappy/Bosconian/Galaga layouts since they use the same pinouts instead of the Atari pinouts.

Namco designed Dig-Dug boards actually are very close to Galaga, Bosconian and Mappy dual board sets sharing the same pinout. Atari converted them to 2 different versions of single large boards as you most commonly see.

Ahh, I love answers!!

Yeah , but are the Namco boards rare ? I never see them .

Yes, very rare. Just like the original Namco Pac-Man boards instead of the Bally/Midway version. (IIRC, the Namco Pac-Man is basically like Rally-X where they folded the board in half just like the rest of these)
