Ok at first it was working great now every time I fire it up I have to hold the mechanical start button until 1 record plays completely through then it plays everything else and operates as it should the rest of the evening. Tonight I'm going to pull the keypad and give it a cleaning and also clean all the edge connectors to the boxes.Any help appreciated.I have the manuals and have read different sights but I havnt been able to find this exact problem.I know about the chronic problems these style of jukes have such as playing a record over and over, racking it continuously and scanning twice but it has none of those problems like I said after the first record its good to go....Thankyou in advance....Dave

Last night I cleaned the edge connector and the and the pcb edge it attatches to on the black box.I fired it up and it worked purfectly. I then tried it again later and it was back to its old tricks of me having to hold the manual start switch for a record or two then its fine again.I think I'm going to check out the detent switch next and make sure its clean.

Check in the control center those two solenoids that flip-flop a leaf switch. Sometimes the switch contacts are pitted and get stuck (file and adjust them).

Sometimes a coil plunger sticks because of dirt on it or simple residual magnetism. If the residual magnetism is a problem you can run a tape head demagnetizer over the plunger end and the coil stop bracket. Be sure to also polish the plunger with BRASSO and clean the inside of the solenoid's sleeve with a qtip swab moistened with lighter fluid.

You can open the DCC by lifting the latch thats located directly in the middle between the DCC and Amp. Lift latch, and lift the dcc upright. Youll see those coils, same as pin coils, there are two of them there. I have a firestar also and had a multitude of strange problems when I first got it.
