So I'm channal surfing the other night and I stop on this obscure movie from the early ninetys called Roadside Prophets. It evan has Adrock from the Beasties in it. Anyway in the openning scenes these two guys are in a strip bar and one of then decides to play Mr Do and the game, for whatever reason, electicutes the guy killing him as it explodes. So can you die from simply playing a game??????

Questions like that will get your collectors license revoked.

If you connect the anode cap to the control panel and touch it while wearing wet clothes on a steel floor during a lightning storm with no surge protector, I suppose.

Just playing World of Warcraft... Well it won't kill you but it is female repellent LOL!

Didn't Bezerk kill someone? Heart attack, I think.

Edit: I just checked- Bezerk killed TWO people!!! Both had heart attacks as 18-19 year olds, just after posting high scores. Crazy.

I'm safe since I'll never post a high score in Berzerk no matter how hard I try.:D

That was quite common in movies in the early eighties. I guess Hollywierd screen writers are frightened by anything new.

It may have been one of the Friday the 13th movies (or some similar slasher flick) where a monster on a video game reached out of the monitor and grabbed the kid, pulled him in and ate him. So yeah, video games can kill you.......

Lets not forget a personal favorite of mine, Maximum Overdrive. The arcade game starts to mezmorize then kill the poor guy, while the rest of the arcade and vending machines attack people!

yes maximum overdrive is a cool flick....the gameroom parts is especially freaky....

Its really easy to get zapped by a game but getting killed by one is a bit harder. On a lot of games if the ground pin is broken on the cord the "grounded" steel parts can float between 15VAC and 60VAC depending on how the cab is wired. If the person playing the game is standing on concrete with no shoes on and touches the offending game or another properly grounded machine at the same time they will get a zap. This is most common on pins and older Skeeball machines.

I worked for a guy that had an arcade at a Water slide park. The games were in a tent with a concrete floor. The kids would come in from the water and get zapped all the time!

Don't forget Polybius. That's supposed to cause a few issues unless the Men in Black get to you first.

yeah, jonsey was telling me about this yesterday... check his site at joltcountry.com, he's got some stuff listed on there. pretty interesting.
