Somebody please school me on Mystic Marathon. I know it's a Williams game from the classic era. I know it apparently came in a dedicated version and conversion kits as well. Are the screenshots I seen it looks pretty straightforward for gameplay. I have heard that these ever extremely high value for some reason and that's what I was wondering about. Was the game a big flop and now there are not very many of them like Professor Pac-Man was? It was offered and conversion kits you would think it wouldn't be rare. Somebody please tell me what is the deal with this game?

It was a flop because the game is... well... not very fun. There ARE a few dedicated cabinets out there... and they are worth some serious coin. You can see the gameplay at youtube.

Here is a conversion being played...

Rare but quite terrible game. Choppy animation, sluggish control and gameplay, muddy graphics and colors. A dud all around.

Super rare + Williams = uber valuable to the right collector.

Never played it, even in mame, so I don't personally know that it's a crappy game. But most seem to consider it a crappy game that failed for good reason, which seems to be the case for a lot of the super rare games.

This game is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be.
At first impression it sucks, but it will grow on you.
Once you play it a few times and get the hang of it, it starts being pretty fun.

Probably a better home game than one needing coins at an Arcade.

Awesome cabinet and artwork.

they're ugly trolls that run very slowly.

the other thing the game is notable for is Ken Graham (YellowDog) executed some programming trickery to enable the hardware to draw the MYSTIC MARATHON logo filling almost the whole screen. :p

Yes...I don't get the appeal of Tron but to each their own. I've tried a few times to get into Tron with no luck...even passed on the game once at a decent price.

As for MM, I played it as a kid at a local place called Round Records. However, I'm not sure how it holds up today.

Wait...what? Most people seem to hate Tron??
