Yesterday was "cookie day" at our house. We invite family to come by and, if they want to bake cookies for the Holidays with us, they simply need to bring their gear and ingredients. At the end of the day, we share out what everyone baked. If you don't want to bake, that's fine too, bc we set up munchies and meatball sandwiches, so those who don't want to actively participate in the cooking can still hang out and talk-eat-etc. It's a win-win for everyone.
Well yesterday, my sister came over and brought my soon-to-be 14 yr old niece. Usually my niece can take it or leave it when it comes to the arcade games (she's a DS player and also likes new games, so the classics are like antiques to her). As I have mentioned in recent posts here, I brought a Lucky and Wild game home in November. My daughter totally loves playing that game so, at one point in the afternoon I told her she needs to go show [niece's name] how to play Lucky and Wild.. My niece just crinkled her nose and said "WHAT is that" in a typical teen tone.. *Ugh* I went out, fired it up, and told her that my daughter would show her the ropes..
I had to run upstairs to take care of something, and was only up there for about 5-10 min. When I came down, I could still hear the game playing. I looked at my sister and said "uh.. they're still OUT there?" She just laughed and said "Yup". I looked out in the (g)arcade and there they were, together, driving down the road in the game and shooting everything that moved. They probably played about 20 games of it, until my 5 yr. old got annoying with her rule-setting problem (ie "OK on this game, you shoot and I'll drive, but I need you to do the pedals for me- and then after that we can........... [fade]"
I didn't say a word, just smiled, happy in the fact that I'd finally found a game that my niece would actually play a little bit! Don't ask me why, but when you have a lineup of games, and have a kid not very interested in playing them, in my eyes, you're doing something wrong. LOL.
