I'm not sure if this is technically a restoration since it's a game that doesn't exist, so I figured I would start here.

I've been wanting a Wild Gunman for awhile. Thanks to justbriand (https://twitter.com/justbriand), I got motivated to make one (and he was nice enough to send me the file for the marquee so I promised a shout out :) ).

I had the Playchoice already and picked up the Wild Gunman cartridge and a gun from members here. I still need to attach the gun. Looking at the movie several times, I can tell that the gun holster is actually one from a gun belt that's attached to the front of the control panel (which makes sense given the story line). So I'm going to hold off mounting anything until I can find one that's similar enough.

I wired it so that the 1 and 2 buttons cycle through the game list and select, respectively. The in game select button is tied to player 2's B button and in game start/pause is tied to button 1. The in game select is hit and miss but it works good enough.

I have my project photos at: http://s1270.beta.photobucket.com/user/adhicks1/library/Wild Gunman

But anyway, here's the money shot:

I'm building one too. Just got a popeye playchoice conversion. You can see if a shop that makes horse saddles will make you a holster. That's what i plan on doing. Where did you get the marquee printed?

billybob2236 printed it for me for a really reasonable price. It's a vinyl overlay. I had to cut the plexi and install it myself, but it wasn't too bad.

That's pretty slick. Can you still play other playchoice games or did you make it a single?

Well, I did have a tiny problem regarding other games. I had to rethink the way I had the start button tied to player 2. Whenever player 2 tried to play, the game kept pausing. Duh.

I think I ended up running it to the same button as either the cycle or select button, can't remember. But for all intents and purposes, it functions as a regular playchoice.

I like it, but it gets repetitive after some time. Kind of like any other shooting game I guess.

Looking good sir! The Wild Gunman sickness is spreading! :)

I thought the game was very repetitve too and I started thinking "this can't be it", so I looked up the instruction book online and just as I thought there's rules outside of the game. The biggest one being you have to keep the gun at your side untill they say "Fire!". I created a instruction card in photoshop for the game explaining the rules and put it on the upper right of the bezel, (this also stopped people with no depth perception from punching the glass with the gun).

That's cool and very helpful. I guess there's no way to stop "cheating" but it makes the game more challenging if you do it right.

I wish someone would rom hack up a real vs. Wild Gunman instead of the PC10 version...me? I don't know where to start

+1........

...I'm in the same boat - hoping to see a Vs. version :)

I guess the other option would be to add a PC10 adapter/board setup on my Nintendo Vs. multi project (I'm close to starting on this)......

This is badass as all hell, man. I've considered tackling this very project myself MANY times, but it just never happens. I've never even played Wild Gunman, but I'm a big Back to the Future fan.
