It's a control thing...
My domestic partner offers to buy or help pay for just about everything I buy... But then when I go to mod it or sell it... She gives me a hard time for messing with her cab.

I'll tell my wife, "I'm going to sell X game for $400, and Y game for $350, then buy Z game for $500, so I'll have one less game and an extra $250."
So, she gets happy when X game leaves, then happier when Y game leaves, then wants to know why I'm spending $500 on Z game.
It's like she doesn't understand that no money came out of our bank account for any of this, and actually $250 went in. All she sees is $500 leaving.
I once went in on a bulk purchase deal with another guy for about $350. We were each going to be paying about $175. Well, the other guy spots something on CL near me and asks me to pick it up for him, for which I paid $50. When I took it to the other guy, my wife went along and told me to make sure I get repaid my $50. I told her that we were just going to adjust the bulk deal that weekend so that I paid $125 and he paid $225. It took a 3-hour argument for her to understand what was going on. All she could see was that I spent $50 out of our account that wasn't going back in, even though she knew already that $175 was already going to be coming out. I finally had to show her on paper how I was still only spending $175.
Obviously, she's not a math person....

We've had the same conversation - she brought it up. We've been considering a west coast vacation, and she would like to plan it for when CAX is going on.
CAX or the Northwest Pinball and Gameroom show (or similar shows elsewhere I'm sure) are a great way to get the wife interested in and enthusiastic about the hobby. The NW show gets the credit for pushing us over the hump to get our house sold so we can get a nice big game room, and that was due to the surprising amount of fun she had at the show. Highly recommended to anyone who's wife is indifferent about the hobby.

Well after I finish blowing an 800lb gay - I accept the fact that my wife doesn't like the hobby nor is she into gaming like I am. I also accept the fact that she would only go to CAX and the likes only because I wanted to go. Not because she had/has any interest. It's ok - to each their own. But the wives and husbands that share the same interest - you people are lucky! How terrible to fight about what game gets purchased or restored next lol.

My wife does not ask anything when I am selling a cab. When I tell her I am selling a cab she says "Good. While they are at it, have them buy all the others". When I tell her I am buying a cab or cabs, she asks "Why do you need that?" and I will then have to go into the analog of her buying over 100 shoes. I will then say when you stop buying shoes is when I will stop buying cabs. A final touch is when I conclude with "Some of your shoes cost more than some of my cabs. When you are tired of your shoes, you can donate them, sell them at a garage sale, give them away or toss them. When I am tired of any of the cabs I own, I can sell them. Some cases lose money, some cases break even and sometimes even make a few bucks. No matter how you slice it, I get back some or all of my money". She would then huff and walk away. We have played this same song many times already.
A big mistake I made recently....I told her I made a few bucks selling one of my cabs and I used that money towards a credit card bill. Now, she argued with me to pay off one of her credit cards. Fucking women suck sometimes...
