So last night I randomly check craigslist and see a Donkey Kong 3 and a Ms. Pacman advertised for really cheap prices..

They both said that they don't work and that they were just taking up space in the garage and wanted to get rid of them..

I sent him an email and about an hour later I got the call and headed on over..

When I get there the Ms. PacMan was on and working..Now I am thinking he is going to raise the price, however he did not..

So I drove out of there with a

Working Ms. Pacman for $25.00
Non-Working (But complete) Donkey Kong 3 for $20.00

The Donkey Kong 3 is in really good shape...

love stories like this!! i have a story like this comming up real soon!! congradulations!! that dk3 cab sure aint goin anywhere!!

the two cabs are a steal at the price you got them at! Let alone filled and working! SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE!

VERY good score! I thought I got a good deal on my $75 Assault!

Any idea on what is wrong with the DK3?

Not a clue.. This is my first Nintendo Cab... I am hoping that someone in the So Cal area can give me a hand fixing it...

You can hear the machine power up, however the CRT neck does not light up and the game does not play blind... I have no idea.....

The cabinet is in such good shape.. I would like to get it working and keep this one..

Chris

So what did the person with the Ms. Pac say when it came on?

He just acted surprised that after 8 years of sitting in his garage that it still worked..

You have to wait about 15 minutes after powering it on before the monitor comes on. I am sure it needs a cab kit....

Once it is on the monitor looks clean....

Chris

nintendos will not play blind if the monitor is dead. The sound amp is part of the monitor chassis FYI. If I were you I would meter the two fuses on the monitor chassis to see if both are good. If one is bad replace it and try to fire it up. If the new fuse blows upon power up(assuming you have a bad one), my guess is either your HOT and or fly back are bad. I believe these are both available.

I checked and both fuses are fine... Looks like I will be ordering a flyback and the Hot..

did you check them with a meter or just visually? Visually is not good enough as fuses that look fine can actually be bad. You can also use a meter to test if the HOT is bad or not. Also if you have not done so put a meter on the outlet inside the cab that the power cord to the monitor plugs into. Verify that you actually have 100V coming into the monitor. Obviously if the power is not making it to the monitor then you would want to look else where for the problem. Oh and just in case you were not aware nintendo monitors are 100V monitors unlike most monitors that run at 110-120v. Also despite the fact that the monitors in most nintendos have a cord that looks like any cord that plugs to a wall outlet, do not plug the monitor into a wall outlet or you will damage you monitor.

Piles of games are being practically given away every day around here. It's amazing. Nice if you are buying, but really bad if you are trying to sell the average game. If I had more space I'd have one hell of a lot of games. Maybe it's a good thing I don't...

There just isn't the interest there once was.

The bad part of this is if there are too many unwanted games and a bunch end up in landfills. Other than that I see it as weeding out those who thought the hobby was a fun idea but were most likely never very serious about it.

BTW if you find anyone selling, trashing an Exidy hard hat snatch it up (I know not likely). I will pay good money for that game.

I hope you can get the game up and running soon. You should really keep it. DK3 is a rather fun and colorful game.

I see the connector in the one pic that is not connected. Other than the speaker which I can not see it looks like all the necessary things are connected. Control panel, coin door, pcb, ribbon style cable that carries the video to the monitor.

Do you know what that connector goes to? I cannot see where it would go?
