I have been working on and off on this for about 2 months and the hard work has paid off, this machine looks nice!! I am finally done with wiring and restoring the cab. This has an original nintendo monitor and running mame with all vs games installed along with other games that use 8way joysticks and 2 buttons per player. No other buttons were added, it was strictly kept to look like a vs machine as close as possible. I have been doing this for a friend and a member on here(mikeatunion) for trade on his mint condition revolution x which is a big grail for me and Im stoked to get it. Here are before and after shots of the cab. Its not completely done as I haft to configure the computer and mount it in the cab but all wiring is done. Ill post a video tomorrow night when its fully operational with mame.

That turned out awesome. Did that cab have the corner pieces and the trim along the bottom from factory or did you just add them as extra protection?

I added it, some people like it and some don't. It doesn't bother me though. I also removed the base that all nintendo cabs have and installed heavy duty leg levelers. I just tried it out on my laptop and the monitor looks great and all games look authentic, screw high cost of arcadevga, I used a 35$ vga to cga converter from hong kong and works wonderful. I will be posting video tomorrow of game play and such

WTF , no one around town sells regular DDR sdram any more, I need some for the pc I'm using, I might try a mom and pop shop and see if I can get a stick of 512 for cheap

My local Office Depot still sells DDR ram. I saw it just the other day when I got some DDR2 for my MAME computer. Funny, they don't sell DDR3 yet.

No electronics/pc recycler in your area? The one in my neck of the woods has no issue with me picking parts here and there, but they also know how much I drop off.

what made you use a playchoice single monitor cabinet instead of a Vs cabinet since you were going through all this work, dont get me wrong, it looks very nice, just wondering?

This is a vs cab, but was not as common as a converted dk and such. Its also a playchoice cab too but this was originally grey making it an original dedicated vs cab, it even has a the original super mario bros serial number plate on it. All vs games you see in dk cabs are conversions, so like i said this is a true dedicated vs cab. Go look around on arcade flyers website and you can see an original like I have

I can find the ram I need all over the net but I was wanting it today thus only have a limited selection between best buy, office dpot, and office max, I ended up spending 40$ on a lousy 512mb

damn... well. if you want, I can ship some priority flat rate and it should get there within return period for the ram you got.

Either way, nice looking machine. I can't wait to see the video. I've always wondered how those VGA/CGA converters work out.

uoch! - maby those cabs a common over there, but here it would be a disaster to convert a R-Type cab to a VS cab..... even the original Nintendo cab is getting easyer to get your cold fingers on over here...... (Europe)

Like lyonsarcade said..This is not a type r cab or playchoice, this is a dedicated vs cab
