My "Twister" Necromancy Thread

Twister is a pretty fun pin. Mine is unfortunately missing the entire board that drives the magnet for that spinning disk. It's pretty cool to see it actually working and grabbing the balls for multiball and spinning them around before releasing them.

Mine is unfortunately missing the entire board that drives the magnet for that spinning disk.

I don't seem to have one either. By the way, where exactly is that board supposed to be mounted? Does it also control the actual spinning of the disc, or just the magnet feature?

(Having the disc grab balls and spin them around like a tornado picking up stuff sounds incredibly awesome, by the way.)

Alrighty, so I took the power transformer from "Cut the Cheese" and installed it in the Twister, but one of the connectors doesn't match up. (See pic -- connector from transformer on left; connector from Twister wiring harness on right.)

I compared the "Cheese" transformer to the one in my X-Files, and the connectors are identical. (As expected, since they're both Sega White Star systems...like Twister.)

What's the deal here? Am I missing some type of adapter for the smallish connector coming from Twister's wiring harness?

twister is a fun game to play. i found one a few months ago and completely cleaned everything on it. my playfield was dirtier than yours. everything worked in mine EXCEPT for the ball lock mechanism. i heard they are known to go bad and it costs about $50 to replace and fix. ive heard of about 5 different twister machines and all of them had their ball lock sensor break or get wore out.
twister is alot of fun to play. i played alot of different pinball machines as a kid in the 1990s and of my top 5, maybe even top 3, that stick out in my mind as being fun......twister was definetly way up there. when releasing the balls for multiball the magnet operates and locks all the balls in the middle of the disc them its spins and releases 1 in every direction. its a fun and super fast game BUT i wish it had more than just 1 huge ramp on it.

i keep one totally fixed up/shopped out pinball in my WORK area for me to play while i fix and repair the other ones. and right now i have a sorcerer there but as soon as it gets warmer here in pennsylvania im going to change it out for twister for sure.

I've done some research, and it would appear that transformer from Cut the Cheese is the wrong one for Twister.

The model number for the transformer from Cheese is 010-5012-00 (same as my X-Files), and the one that was in Twister is 010-5011-00. (According to info I gleaned from this post, anyways: http://bit.ly/e0bZDf)

Seems like that slight difference in the transformer model number is enough to make the difference, yes?

This transformer business has been quite disappointing, but I discovered that...remarkably...I do have the magnet driver board. This was nice to discover, as I really didn't want to spend the kind of money needed to get this feature back in the game.
