Hi, I have a Sega Turbo upright which has 2 coin lights as well as 2 lights on the CP for "guages". For whatever reason, these bulbs, when changed, will last anywhere from 5 minutes to 4 days before going out.

I'm pretty new to owning arcade games (or at least trying to work on them myself), so is there anything I should do that might easily fix this?

I measured the voltage at one of the coin bulbs, it read 12.4v, is that about right?

Are there LED replacements that are likely to last much longer, or am I more likely to have some sort of power supply issue? The game itself runs very reliably, so the power that feeds the boards seems to be ok.

Thanks very much for any tips!!

They shouldn't blow out like that if they're new bulbs, and LEDs will likely get killed too if there's a problem with the voltage, so I'd check that before spending any money.

I could be wrong but I thought the voltage was supposed to be 8-volts unregulated? If that's the case then 12-volts would probably fry them, but again check the manual/with someone who knows for sure before taking my word on that.

& ditto on making sure you're using the right voltage bulbs too.

My guess would be that you are putting 5V bulbs in 12V sockets. Also make sure the bulbs are clean when you install them as smudges can cause a heat build-up and shorten bulb life.

Wow... Yeah. I figured if the bulbs fit, they'd be right... I just looked up 555 bulbs, which is what I used in the coin acceptors, they're 6.3V... DOH!! Once again, I've come to the right place, thanks very much for the help!!
