My Trimline Conversion Project

That really looks awesome now that you have it all done. And whoever getting it is very lucky!

Did you ever take the dimensions off the cabinet? You mentioned in an early post about doing repro's. I love the look of that cabinet, too, and I now have a Rastan PCB that would go great in a Taito Trimline-style cabinet. If you happen to have the basic dimensions to share I'd love to use them for my own repro.

I don't have them handy, no. With this cab, you almost need an original to copy as the curves and dimensions are a little complicated. It is also assembled with dado joints in addition to blocks.

The other side has been installed and the machine is clean, complete and ready to be picked up.

A little over 2 years later and I finally finished the CPO. Turned out pretty sweet:

It should look pretty nice on the cab when it arrives here on Friday:

We'll be taking this one to MGC.

Wow that looks great! Did Ghosts and Goblins originally ship with a cabaret version as well as upright?

I'd like to introduce you to the first post in this thread:

So I picked up a Karnov in a Taito Trimline cabinet a few weeks back. Sounds cool, til you realize that the guy who did the conversion cut down both a full size bezel and marquee, and really did nothing with the rest of the cab. Woodgrain intact, CP just a big blue mass, etc. I actually bought this at auction from a guy who bid on it and 2 other cabs and won all 3. Took a little wheeling and dealing, but in the end, I got to him. Total cost: $114.25

The minute I got it home, I started cleaning it up and bondoing all the bottom damage. I still didn't know what to do with it, but I knew I wanted to do something. That's when I got the bright idea to convert this machine to the first dedicated mini Ghosts N Goblins that I am aware of. I got the idea when I noticed the Taito logos matched on both the GNG marquee and the Trimline Tinted Tempered glass bezel. You can just make out the white screened logo at the top of the bezel here:

Well, I decided I'd get some GNG artwork printed up. I had Scott at GameonGraphix handle that part for me. I had him resize and crop the bezel, and resize the marquee:

I think they turned out pretty sweet. I placed my order for marquee and bezel plexi pieces today from my local glass shop(both clear and tinted), and have a full roll of Purple vinyl to wrap the cabinet sides in and a small roll of black to wrap the front and back in, to match the look of the GNG upright. I will be finishing the cab repairs and sanding this week and applying the vinyl this coming weekend. I will then install the new repro bezel and marquee, and begin work on a CPO and side art. I am then going to be deciding on whether I should go with Neon Green or Pacman Orange T-molding to match one or the other ghost on the artwork. I will be installing a 19 in 1 board in this machine since it is already wired for Jamma, but will be turning all Williams games off. I can't wait to post the finished pics on this one.

Read this entire thread and the music from the game kept popping into my head! Great work on this, and please post a pic of it with the CPO so we can see the finished product.

Hah, sorry, I'm kinda late to the party on this thread and probably should have checked that. Thanks for the info!

No worries, it was worth bringing the first post back to the top. It reminded me where I started. This thread has almost come full circle.

Wait, I thought you sold this?

I sold it to a friend who is bringing it to the Midwest Gaming Classic in Milwaukee. We ride together every year so he brought me the control panel back on Valentine's Day so I could measure, mock up, design and print an overlay before the show. Now when he comes through tomorrow with the machine in the trailer, we'll be able to throw the new CP on and make this little GNG complete before it gets relentlessly beat on for 2+ days by smelly fat guys and creepy cosplayers. Basically, everybody wins.

LOL there is no response that I can come up with that is even close to as how funny that was.

I am just shocked at good this CPO turned out:

RidicRick did a great job printing it. Even though I had to move things around a bit and alter the logo proportions of the full sized upright CPO file to make it fit the existing layout, it's still far better than the marquee, which was basically just a full size GNG marquee file that was cropped rather poorly by GOG (dude should really hire a graphic designer):
