My Super Pacman - but a generic question...

So, I recently bought a Super Pacman as part of a multi-arcade deal. Game works, but needs some love...

So, here's my question. I see there are vinyl repros for the sides and kickplate. The machine I have, the kickplate has a decent amount of wear (looks more like weather wear from being in very dry conditions than gouges or scuffs). The machine is currently all original (Cab art is painted on).

Would the machine be more desirable in its current condition, or would it be more desirable with the new overlays. I'll probably wind up replacing the bezel with a NOS part and replace the CP with a new CPO eventually. I just know some things really lose value once you start trying to "fix" them.

No, I think this one will be a keeper. I'm not looking to "flip" it or anything, but I would like it to retain as much value as possible. This one will likely be in my permanent collection.

Oh, and to add another question.. I see ebay auctions for super pacs, some say caberet and some say "full-size". Did they offer more than 1 size for the Super Pacman? (Mine is the size of a caberet)

A caberet Super Pac? Pics please.

As far as artwork goes, if you're keeping the cab, do it up the way YOU want it. Some folks value clean new artwork more, some folks value clean original artwork more. It's a matter of taste, really.

The best value on a cab is that it's clean and working.

I'll update with pics tonight once I get home from work. Might be later, AngryRadish is stopping over to see if we can work out a deal for his Rapid Fire.. :)

Like I said, its about the size of a caberet (so, it is a little smaller than my "full-size" arcades), but I thought they only offered these in one size, I could be wrong...

OK, ebay has someone selling a Super Pacman "caberet", looks like a conversion. All of the other listings for Super Pacman say "full-size", and looks exactly like my machine. I'm going to assume it is the "full-size", and the games it was next to are just "big"... lol

I'll still post pics, I'd still like more input as to whether you guys think I should leave it or rehab the cabinet.

@smalltownguy2 - I get the nice original artwork vs. nice repro artwork, but my machine in in 7/10 shape. So the question is still kind of out there... semi-busted up original artwork vs. brand new repro artwork?

Added pics to the fist post... will give everyone an idea as to the condition of the sides and kickplate. Should I try to tackle fixing her up or allow her to continue to age gracefully?

I guess I'm still looking for the generic answer to the base question still and looking for advice. I know with some antique items (guns are a good example), they actually lose value if restored and are worth more if they are all "original" (providing they still work). Is the same true for vids/pins, or are collectors pretty open to a full restore with non-NOS parts?

Maybe I'll post a poll and see how the responses come in.. ;)

That's a standard size Super. Sides are OK, but front and CP are rough. If I were keeping it, I'd probably try to get some attention to the control panel and front.

For a game like Super Pac, the only way the value is going to to way up is to get a perfect cabinet with near perfect artwork. These are pretty common cabs, so there's lots of them out there with patina.

If you don't have much money into it, I'd say leave it as is. You're not going to gain value back unless you undergo an extensive cosmetic restoration.

That said - you wanna sell it? :D

never eard of a super pac caberet
pics pics pics...probably a pac or ms pac conversion

Even though the one being discussed here is a regular UR, I figured I would share the pics I have of a super-pac cabaret. They're from this auction. It's interesting to note that it went unsold so there's a chance the seller may still have it. Also, there was a legit Super-pac cabaret on the Lakeland Florida CL about a year or so ago. I don't know where that machine wound up as the seller did not respond to e-mails from a few of us on the Florida boards.

No way that's real. It's GOT to be a custom job. I've never seen, heard, or read anywhere about a Super Pac mini.

Does Todd Tuckey have one?

EDIT: Huh, would you look at that - he DOES have one. Interesting. I stand corrected.

I think I have the glass bezel for a SPM mini in my parts stash. IIRC, there have been a few at CAX over the years.

I just got a Super Pac a month ago that needed attention to the artwork. I matched up the dark blue at my local Sherwin Williams and very pleased with the outcome. I foam rolled it on all the dark blue areas and it came out great. For $16 in paint & supplies the cabinet looks almost new.
