Back a couple weeks ago I won an auction that included a dead Star Wars. From the pics I could see the monitor had a wire broken off the neck board and some things were unplugged. I started with the obvious repairs on the monitor, did a full once over on the machine and plugged it in. With my breath held I flipped the switch and watched closely for signs of trouble while listening for any signs of life. All I got was a hiss from the speakers and a green dot in the center of the monitor. I decided to swap the ARII board with the one in my ROTJ but that didn't change any thing and the board from SW worked fine in ROTJ. I checked my game boards and found someone had cleaned the edge connectors but I decided to pull the entire set anyway. I removed the rear connector that links all 3 boards together, cleaned those connections and assembled the game. This time when powered on I was greeted with "The Force Will Be With You"! I was able to coin the game up and play but the monitor only displayed in a tiny strip across the center. After playing with the pots I found a blown fuse I had overlooked so I replaced it. That caused burnt components and a nice little smoke show. I contacted a member here who offered to fix it and he took it for repair. Last night I picked it up and battled traffic all the way home from his house but was rewarded with a fully working game when I installed the monitor! My biggest worry was a board issue that I wouldn't see until the monitor went in but everything looks good! A big thanks to Slackmoe for driving half way to meet me and getting my monitor rockin again! Pics to follow after I get the game back together.

Very cool! Nothing better than a working Star Wars! I had some people stop over to pick up a game and the Daughter, probably 14 years old, heard the Star Wars coming up when I turned all the games on. She screamed "He has one" and was playing it before the monitor was done warming up! Kid knows a great game! Enjoy it!

Lol, my son has been going back out and playing it all evening. I had to fight him off just to put the thing back together. I dropped the monitor in last night and didn't even bolt it in before I had the game on. I sanded and painted all the bolts since they were rusty, I cleaned all the plastics and glass real good too. I think I'll replace the marquee, CPO and the yoke cover decal just to freshen the look up but that will be in the future.

I think 2 things about andrew/slackmoe

1) He has a very soft spot for SW owners and helps out anyone local with theirs it seems...
2) He's a very nice guy that is a big help to lots of bay area guys!

star wars

i know the feeling. owning a starwars arcade makes you feel special! dont forget to blow away all the towers for a bonus and use the force in the trench screen and rack up the points, but you know that already!
