Add me to the list of guys looking for NOS/Repro Jr Pac stuff.

I couldn't resist buying this little fella.
#506

Old OP purchased it new, told me how well it was taken care of, etc etc.
Needless to say, it's far from perfect.
The OP had a bad habit with the paint brush. Which wouldn't be bad, if she actually had talent :)
Side art is painted/touched up and looks like crap.
The other side, it's peeled off to the Mappy.
front is painted over, and the CPO is touched up as well.
Oh, did I mention the marquee is missing?

with that being said, the cabinet isn't that bad actually, and the game plays.

Still, not a bad snag I don't suppose.

Not sure what I would do with that one. I love both Jr. Pac and Mappy but it may not have ever been a Mappy. Depends on how far the factory got with the cabinets before they got converted. If it was me, I would probably strip the Jr. Pac sticker of the left side so that the sides would match. A lot of Jr. Pac dedicated machines are missing the Jr. Pac side art. I wonder if the front sticker is recoverable under that blue. At least the thing works.

yeah, it was never a mappy.Cabinet has both s/ns stamped on it.. i was thinking of going the mappy route. especially since I have a mappy marquee that would fit. I just hate to unconvert it from a working jr pac.

too bad the artwork isnt better.

I really like that cabinet and the game. I would love to get one. That looks to be a factory conversion, too bad about the marquee.

Hell, at this point it's a nicer Mappy than Jr. Pac.

I'd be tore to be honest with you.

Maybe a flip of the coin?

It's clearly a dedicated Jr. Pac-Man, based on the photos. They're quite rare.

Easy choice: Jr. Pac-Man. A little patience will net you the proper marquee - I've seen them on eBay.

I have seen another Jr. Pac with the correct marquee that was a factory conversion. It had Mappy art under the Jr. Pac side-art. I think Midway converted quite a few Mappy's to dedicated Jr. Pacs. It has to stay a Jr. Pac.

Heck, my dedicated Domino Man had Lazarian art under the Domino Man art. I think they did this a few times BITD.

All factory dedicated Jr. Pacs were made out of unsold Mappys with the sideart right on top of the Mappy art. Chances are on yours is that it is a dedicated cabinet with one side peeled off.

jr. pacman and mappy

nice pic up, very hard to come by these jr. pacman.
just reunited these two recently. do i have 2 mappys one a jr. pacman conversion or a mappy with a jr. pacman/mappy factory cab conversion? actually the latter, this is a factory jr. pacman with the mappy sideart directly under the jr. pacman art.
anyway heres a pic:

Jr Pac was offered as a field conversion, of course. I would say I have seen far more field conversions than I have seen original Jr Pacs. If originality is your goal, it looks like this one needs to be a Mappy.

The full side art on the Jr Pacs above looks like the cheesy Willis (sp?) side art, and not factory stuff. Every field conversion I have ever seen had the small 8 inch x 18 inch (or so) Jr Pac Man decal, and the vendor would typically just stick it over the top of the Pac Man side art, which always looked crappy.

This one is a factory conversion. Not a field conversion.

That is the correct side-art from factory conversions (aka dedicated) not Willis crap and actually matches the art on the rest of the cab. Those small stickers were meant for OP done conversions on Pac/Ms. Pac cabs.

= factory conversion.

Am I right, or am I oversimplifying this?

yes, this is certainly a factory conversion, a real dedicated Jr Pacman.
Even the top has the original Mappy S/N and the the Jr Pac S/N stamped beside each other.

Huh. You might be right. I just unrolled my Willis Jr Pac side art and it is even worse than that shown above. <shudder> It is quite similar though. Probably just different enough to avoid blatant copyright infringement suits.

I also have two different sizes of the field conversion decals. One is about an inch wider than the other, but a little bit taller.

Check that. My side art is WICO, not Willis. That makes sense, because WICO was even more memorable for atrocious artwork than Willis was!
