I thought I'd start this section since it's now been 2 days since I got this game and it's no longer 'new' news. The original posting was at the below link:

http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=239384

I learned last night that the machine is serial number 591727. There's no serial number tag on the back because the upper back door is gone and the lower back door is pretty well weathered.

Last night I started to clean her up because she was prettttttttttttttty dirty. I will post some updated pics soon.

I have trades underway for a marquee and a boardset so, hopefully things will move along fairly quickly!

I would love to see this baby up and running by Labor Day at the latest, even if the cab still looks like it was spit on by a Xenomorph LOL

Does it have a switcher or original power supply? If it's the original chances are it doesn't work. You want to make sure all the voltages are correct before plugging in a good boardset or it will quickly make it a non-working set.

Yeah i will prob have to drop in a switcher bc the original brick looks like bantha podu..

I'll have to get you guys a pic, but I noticed something funny about the PS board tonight: it would appear that one of the connectors is missing- so, to fix the issue, someone had MacGyver come in and tape each wire to the header pins with electrical tape... I'll bet that kept ole MP lively :(

Just look up the wires in the wiring schematic and wire them to the switcher accordingly. They are listed with the main wire color and the stripe color..ex. G\W grey with white stripe. IIRC the sound uses -12v to work but can be substituted with the -5v connection on the switcher.

Oh also most likely the transformer will good enough to use for the monitor so don't discard that!

Last night I only had a couple of minutes to tinker with the cab, so I took c-clamps and glued some of the graphic back in place that was separating from the side.

(hey I know it's not much, but the little things add up eventually)

Interesting! I learned this tidbit from the KLOV DB:

Cabinet Information

Two small transparent stickers are placed on the side-art. The first is a rectangular "T.M." Trademark sticker placed on the "L" of the Moon Patrol logo. The second is a circle with an "R" inside it Registered Trademark, placed after the Williams logo.

The T.M. sticker is actually still on the game, in spite of it being left out for Mother Nature to kick around! I'll have to see if the 'R' sticker is still there.

that thing is just plain scary!! dont you dare fully restore it. it should be what in the car world is considered a rat rod..... ol,d beat up, crusty, dirty and just offensive to almost everyone but runs and drives like a new car should. make that bitch better than ever on the inside and scare your other games with it...this way they will think twice before giving you any problems or out in the graveyard they will go!

MUSHROOMS growing in my CAB!!!

Maybe it's time to change the name to SHROOM PATROL??
