Why not? I thought water is the most harmless stuff on earth.

Immersing a glass marquee in water causes the paint layer to come off in one large, quite fragile, decal-like sheet.

This might be okay if it behaved like a decal, but when put back on the glass, the paint shrinks as it dries and pulls itself apart into hundreds of tiny paint shards.

I ruined a perfectly good Tron marquee this way.
