well, while i was on vacation, i got an email about my mr pinball wtb post. i needed a power supply (mine was physically missing). so for $120, i got the working power supply,a working solenoid board, and a flipper coil shipped. plugged it in and started to see some progress.. i have two mpu-2 boards but one has corrosion from the battery. but the other had a bad z80.. swapped the chips and now i can play (somewhat).

i am now stuck at looking at the SDU board (again, assuming it works 100%), i also need to look at the playfield. not everything registers points (i will clean the contacts on the switches), and occasionally the game doesnt react to points anymore (or the flipper) - even when the ball is in play.

so, any suggestions as to where to begin? should i check the voltage at each coil? is this an MPU problem?

My Sharpshooter had issues with lots of playfield switches not registering. Almost all the problems turned out to be bad contact on the plug between the body and the head for the playfield switches. Several pins were backing out of the Molex and not making good contact with its counterpart.

Only one switch was actually due to a bad connection at the plug to the MPU...
