this has been about a two month process so far. i didnt take a before pic, but this is the outcome so far.
first, pcb was dead. the harness was hacked beyond hacked. (had wires twisted together with no electrical tape....why?) the cabinet was in very bad shape with no back door. power supply was shot. the pcb ribbon cables were all ate up by mice. im still looking for a better bezel, and im going to replace the control panel art with new art. the side art was all repainted by hand and was a pain in the ass! the red is Sherwin Williams "Stop Sign". as for the monitor, someone had screwed with the purity rings and had the whole damn screen out of whack. a few beers, lots of cussing and some great metal music later (thank you Rob Halford) and i had the monitor back to normal. what say you?

looks beautiful! must.resist.the temptation. to do an all night restoration of my satan's hollow.

anyways, did you have any problems with the outer wood delaminating and cracking? i ask because mine has that issue and i can kinda see it in your close up pic. curious how you dealt with it.

Looks pretty decent. That red is intense. Mine (which is all original) looks almost orange in comparison:

i hear ya, shawn. the fading on mine's wicked bad. it's missing the kickplate and the paint where is was is a nice red, compared to the tomato-y color of the rest.

i use a waxy type furniture prep cloth to get paint flakes, dust, and other wood particles up before i paint anything. some parts where the paint was flaked off still remained. its not perfect, but its a lot better than it was.

That looks great! Sucks that you didn't get any "before" pictures. I always take a bunch of pics of cabs when I first buy them. The side art looks fantastic, I can't imagine painting that by hand...

It looks pretty red to me.....But like Phet my Satans Hollow probably has a good amount of fading so who knows what the original color was supposed to be....You have a great deal of patience to hand paint that stuff, I commend thee.

looks pretty good. As others mentioned the red looks a bit bright. As for getting a correct color match I would look at the bottom of your satan's hollow and see if it's red. Mine is. In fact mine is still mostly covered with a protective plastic. Pretty sure if we wanted an exact color match for SH we could get one.

when i took the coin door and the vent handles off from the back of the cabinet, i took a color swatch booklet and the color i thought looked the closest was the color i used.

Nice!

You did a great job- it looks great! I am planning on picking one of these up in the next couple of weeks and your thread is giving me inspiration to get it and get it working. The cab is in pretty good shape, but not sure about the internals. One of the best games when turned on in the dark!
