my Sanyo 20-Z2AW came up all green after capkit -- any idea why?

for whatever reason, Bob sells the standard kit for the 20-Z2AW, and for what it's worth, it was enough to fix the squishing problem I had at the top of the screen. I don't know where the 20-Z2AW places in terms of it being higher or lower end compared to the EZV, but with the degauss button and inverter board on my PC-10 I would think it would be a little more deserving of a deluxe kit, unless the rest of the caps do in fact run different values than the EZV.

the part I didn't get however was after I capped it and reinstalled it, only green came up, it looked like an Apple IIe monochrome screen.

no degree of adjusting blue or red bias made those show up. after powering it down I switched the top monitor signal to the bottom monitor I capped, and all I got was some red dots on the screen, powered it off again, hooked everything back up the normal way and uh, red green and blue all worked, albeit the white balance was off since I messed with the knobs. (I fixed that)

so... any idea what happened?

I tapped the side of the cab and sure enough the screen started going batshit, particularly with the blue.

do you think it's something in the video wiring or the monitor itself? I was reading another thread where there's a box on the PC-10 board that handles video or something and there was problematic solder joints in it.

the neckboard looked like it's been through a couple wars, I was running low on solder so I only had enough to do the caps... didn't have a chance to do any preemptive cold solder fixes, but nothing looked bad.

just out of dumb curiosity, are the neckboards on these and the EZV the same?

ok, maybe I didn't ask my question dumb enough, I'll keep striving to do better in that area, maybe my thread will actually get some replies then.

I reflowed all the transistors on the neckboard and even did the bias pots. no more cold solder mucho erratica.

don't ever ask a woman to help you white balance a monitor. I'm lucky I had about an inch of reflective glass to help guide me.
