I had a BLAST restoring this GORF. It was certainly a labor of love and it has taken nearly 3 years to finish. However, truth be told, I never intended GORF to be a permanent keeper. So before I make a wrong move and ding, scratch or otherwise damage the game, I want it to go to a home where it will be loved. The game includes the manuals as well.
Here is a list of EVERYTHING done to this machine since I started the project:
• Replaced missing marquee and upper bracket
• Stripped entire cabinet down to bare wood and repaired damages
• Painted cabinet with a custom semi-gloss color-matched Valspar enamel paint
• Repainted speckled stars on sides
• Repainted inner black areas
• New reproduction side art provided by ArcadeOverlays.com
• Replaced T-molding
• Replaced bottom half of cabinet & coin door
• Rebuilt and degaussed the original Wells-Gardner K4600 monitor
• Replaced monitor bezel
• Replaced control panel with a limited reproduction silk-screened aluminum plate from ThisOldGame.com
• Rebuilt joystick assembly
• Replaced Joystick insert with a limited reproduction inlay from ThisOldGame.com
• New player buttons
• Replaced lower control panel artwork lightbox
• Replaced speakers
• Repainted all silver brackets
• All new locks and keys
• All new low-wattage CFL light bulbs
• Repaired CPU Logic card
• Cleaned all wiring, power supplies, and PCBs
• Defeated the GORFian Empire
With that being said, there are still a few minor defects worth noting, because unfortunately nobody is perfect:
• Left side inner decal damaged, no reproductions available
• Coin door is original and has some scrapes and very small lock holes
• Marquee has a few small fleabite scratches
• Minor screen burn that is not visible behind the tinted bezel, nor during gameplay.
• Power cord has a replacement receptacle.
All the pictures can be seen on my ebay auction at http://www.ebay.com/itm/11090937075...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649#ht_2317wt_1295
And of course, you can also read through the Restoration Forum at http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=104991
Disregard the eBay price, for KLOVers I am asking for $1200. I would like to try to be firm on the price, but I cant say I wont entertain offers. Let me know!
