I remmeber most of the Arcades back in the day were setup in Random, the games were all mixed up. No Williams, or Atari rows, def no Vector rows, so i decided to mix my games up. Got to be honest, so far i hate the new setup, let me know what you think? (i miss my Williams row the most).

Took me hours to do this so won't be putting it back anytime soon. Anyways here is a video, let me know what you think:

Wow this looks great, a little randomness is always good. I wouldn't change a thing. This gives each game it's own space and doesn't compete with its brothers. Jaw dropping setup!

Wow! Remember the old Reese's commercial about the guy with the jar of peanut butter and the guy with the chocolate bar who ran into each other and made a new candy bar? That's what your name is to mine...

I think it depends on the spirit you want to evoke - a collector's arcade or a "classic" arcade. Personally I prefer the random model; as you point out, it's how storefront arcades were set up, and it's certainly how I experienced arcades as a player. On the flip side though, an arcade organized by rows highlights the collector's interest/expertise in the arcade "genre" - demonstrating, for example, the evolution of a game catalogue within a single company, and then comparing across different company catalogues.

Then again, I only have three games, so I could change my tune to organized if I had more!

Great arcade, by the way! :)

If it was possible to improve the look of your arcade... I think you did it. :beerchug:

I'm more of a random type person myself so that just looks right to me... except for the Nintendos... there's just something about having them all lined up that I really like. ;)

Dude, I love it! I love the mixed up look! Your 'cade is beyond awesome. WOW!

Right now I have only a Ninty row, the rest of the games are mixed up. I like the mixed up look better. I might dismantle the Ninty row now that I see yours!

Dang, Braido, that is a great group of games you have there and the space is awesome. I don't think there is anything wrong with the setup.

looks badass. Its not a showroom at Atari or williams etc so I think it looks perfect. Its how I remember the arcades being...Though your floor looks less sticky

I never saw the way it looked before but I love the way it looks now! I like to have the games mixed up.

May ask what the dimensions of your arcade are? I'm trying to feel out where mine will be someday. :)

Thanks!

I like the random setup best. Putting them all in neat rows by monitor type, manufacturer and genre makes me think that you also have hand knitted cozies on the flybacks.

Random is where it's at! I can see the appeal of similar cabs all in a row but the mixed bag of games makes things more interesting IMO.

It looks great just the way it is. I like the randomness makes it look like an original regular arcade.

I think you need more flatscreens though.:D

Braido -

Not that my opinion matters, but I think the new room is fantastic!

I like the randomness of it, and I would think it would make people want (or need) to walk through the entire space to see what you have in there. If you have a "row" of Williams games, and people know they love, say, Robotron, they might not move past that row. This forces them through the space a bit.

This setup reminds me of the Space Port I frequented back in the day. They even had an upper monitor on their Dragon's Lair too!

Great work! Hope it grows on you. I know what a pain it is to re-arrange :p
