My first restoration project of '09 is a Quantum. I decided to check the serial number database to see where this one fit in. SN's run from UR102 to UR570. How is it that mine is so far off?

Is it Irish? Were there Irish ones? I know the Irish cabs were numbered differently. For example, I know the only made about 23000 Tempest's, and I have one number about 19000, but I also have an Irish cab numbered about 112000....

My wife's Irish Tempest SN is 0115986 so it could be a foreign Quantum. Maybe Brent Radio's list is flawed and they accidentally dropped a zero, maybe there were 5000 Quantums made. In that case, congrats on having the last Q off the assembly line. ;)

Shoot Francis a PM...maybe he might know. If that is Irish cab there should be some differences..whats the artwork and cab shape look like...usually there are small differences between the US and Irish version..

Could just be an error..maybe its supposed to be over one more decimal point so its 500...

It's a US cab, same as every other Quantum I've seen. I doubt the Quantum was every made in Ireland.

It was an unlicensed knockoff :D

Maybe production couldn't find the roll of S/N labels 0-4999 and had to grab a new roll.

Not saying it's what happened here, since the label looks pretty worn, but wasn't there someone over on RGVAC a long time ago who was making repro atari Serial # labels, before he got chased away for some BS he pulled? Can't remember dude's name off the top of my head...

The Zinfer dude. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing but it looks pretty original with the dust and all.

Honestly I do not put much stock in that internal Atari document on production numbers since some of those number I know are not accurate at all but this is still strange.
