Just as soon as I get all 200+ games REdownloaded, installed, and updated from the last time my system had to be fixed...it died! It has the same issue from the last time that it was fixed. No power LED to start. Push the power button and "standby" red light comes on. Push the power button again and the system starts (power LED turns green and fan starts up). However, the system hangs in boot. Can't turn off the system with the power button...have to unplug the cord from the back of the system.

SONY is aware, again. SONY wants the system sent in for repair on the service previously provided. I have to put my original hard drive back in, again. When it comes back I will have to REdo everything, again.

My PS3 makes me a SAD PANDA...

Here is my history on this system if anyone doesn't already know...

That sucks (for the second time I've replied to your dead PS3 threads).

Pretty soon, can't you use the lemon law to get a new unit from them...or is that only cars, I forget....

I hope you get another system this next time around.

Did you end up getting the same system back after the repair or was it a different one? Maybe talk to someone and see if they can do anything to help make up for all the inconvenience you've had with this lemon. Mention the reliability being worse than a launch day Xbox 360 and see what they say :D

in the update before most recent, one of my systems would hang at boot, not shutdown properly all kinds of stuff.. I was running it fine for over 4 years. most recent update, problem gone.

At least you still have the 90 day warranty from getting it back.

My PS3 came back a week and a half ago. Same console that I've always had. I immediately set out to sell it off and managed to do a trade/paypal deal on it yesterday. Today I am shipping off what has put a wrench in last year's gaming. Soon I will be getting a 500gb Super Slim bundle and with fingers crossed I won't have any issues with it for a long time. For the moment I am still without the gaming goodness of my PS3, but I am up to my ears in work so that'll keep me busy.

Dude, that sucks! I'm sorry to hear that. I've been having the occasional freeze with my old Fat 160GB, but I haven't seen anything catastrophic.

That's a shame. I know my older Sony consoles are in perfect shape. My PSP-3000 is a tank.

I'm sure the new console I get will be closer the to SONY quality I expected. I did get a pretty decent trade out of it though. I'm getting a copy of E.V.O. for the SNES. It's not even close to mint, but the guy made up the difference with PayPal so I'm happy.

I've been seriously lucky with both my my systems since the day I bought them. But Had bad luck with the PS2.

Xbox 360 (2008 & 2009 elite) Sold both and they still work.
My slim works fine so far (6 months old)

Ps3 (fat Japanese 2007) I updated the HD back in September with no issues whatsoever.
It has just randomly shut off maybe 3 times for no reason within the last two years.
Knock on wood.

They should of just replaced your system for the get go, usually PS has some good records. Can't say the same for PS2 though.

Good luck with your future systems.

My PS3 is made in China :( But my recently acquired launch model Dreamcast is made in Japan! It works perfectly :)

I'll have to make a thread about it. I wish I had before and after photos for the night that I cleaned it up.

Hopefully you have better luck with your new PS3. I do like that it removed some motorized parts, but hopefully quality hasn't been cut back.
