Too hot IMO, some chips get so hot that you can barely touch them.
Now I know the board is badly designed, but is that the way it is supposed to be? Voltages are ok and I did the sense mod to both ARII boards...

Re-verify your 5 volt line. Mine ran hot too until I adjusted the voltage. I also have a fan blowing across my boards to help cool them down.

If your boards are in the cage, there should be a fan above the cage blowing out through the back door. They also had a cardboard ventilation kit that enclosed the top of the cage to the fan (so the fan would suck the heat out of the cage).

Thanks for your hint, but it's an irish built cockpit, so I think there never was a cage. It has a fan in the backdoor, but the chips got hot even when the door is open.
In fact I noticed that even on my test bench they heated up pretty quickly.
I am going to readjust the voltages (as suggested) down to the level that the boards needs to just work properly.

74 "S" series TTL chips and bi-polar PROMs run hot. Pole Position has some of both of these. Also, the two Z8002A's run hot enough to fry on.

Yes, I noticed it especially on the Z8002s. So I guess I will re-adjust the voltages and live with it :D
