In November of 2009 I had to quit working due to an unknown ailment. About 8 months earlier I had started noticing that I was getting tired. I would get winded from going up the stairs. I went to the doctor and they said to excersize more and eat healthier. I did as instructed. I was already excersizing and watching what I ate as I was employed with the Colorado Department of Corrections and wanted to keep up with the muscular strength of the inmates that I had to deal with on a daily basis. As time went on, I began falling down the stairs, walking like a drunk, seeing double, getting vertigo from driving, and had a 24 hour constant killer headache. I kept going back to the doctor to which they asked, "Are you depressed?" I told them I was not making up this problem. They did all kinds of blood work and everything was normal. Finally, I got tired of the run around and requested a new physician. I told him my symptoms and he immediately referred me to a nuerologist. The neurologist started off with an MRI and MRA of my head to check for signs of MS or an aneurysm. Everything looked fine. I then got an EMG and the results showed some severe neurological issues. Then I had a lower lumbar puncture (spinal tap) and things looked fine. After seeing this neurologist for a year, he said he was at a loss and referred me to the University of Colorado Research Hospital for testing. There they did a full battery of blood work as well as another EMG and also a muscle biopsy. All this and they don't know what is going on. All they can say is it is some kind of motor predomminant axonal polyneuropathy. I got a letter from UCH stating that they could do nothing for me. I applied to go to the top neurology hospital in the country which is in Baltimore. I am going to Baltimore to Johns Hopkins Hospital's new neurological facility for testing. Hopefully, they can try to shed some light on the subject.

The problem is that I am getting worse. In two weeks I am getting fitted for a power wheelchair so I can get around. At the same time I need to come up with the money for Johns Hopkins. I have been repairing computers, video games, and arcade games trying to get some money together.

For the last three years I have been painstakingly researching the value of every PlayChoice 10 game PCB. I finally finished gathering the raw data. I was going to make a nice large book out of it but instead I have decided to make a small compact easily accessible list. This is mainly due to my lack of physical energy.

The guide is available for anyone willing to donate at least $5 to me by way of gifted PayPal. I know it's cheesy but I need to get money and I don't want charity. I have worked very hard and put in countless hours making this price list. My PayPal email is [email protected]. I will email the PDF file to all gifted payments as they come in. I appreciate any support I can get. Thanks!

I am kinda nterested to see where placed stuff. I have my own gauge but interested to see where you ended up with collected data. $5.00 should be in your mailbox.

BTW crazy thought, I read an article on Formic Acid poisoning. It is also one of the products NutraSweet (aspartame sic?) when it is heated over the 140+ish range. The sweetener breaks down into formic acid among other things, I know snopes debugged the whole 4 diet sodas aday leads to Alzheimer's thing, but...

Anyways the article went on stating that Formic Acid poisoning has nearly identical symptoms to that of advanced MS, symptoms you seem to also share. The difference is that it is very hard to detect. Methanol poisoning is also quite similar, and was mentioned as a misdiagnosis for Lupus, MS, and chronic fatigue syndrome. among other things.

Just a thought.

I hope all works out for the best!

Dan. I knew something was wrong but I was hoping that it wasnt your health. You loved the PC-10, from way back! We used to beat each other out in Ebay auctions for carts! :) Then, we even bought and sold carts from each other, later on! Very troubling news.

I hope all works out for you and your crew. Many prayers for you my friend. Get better soon. -Matt

Pretty good list there. If going off of highest price paid I have a few additions, these are based off of my own experiences:

Balloon Fight: Sold one for $60.00
Goonies: Sold one for $75.00
Power Blade: Bought $160.00
Rocking Kats: Bought $160.00
Super C: Sold for $65.00

These are just off of deals that I personally made. Did I overpay? Maybe, but the same person had both and hey how often do they come up, and I had seen them go for near that in the past.

The ones I sold I assumed I was selling for decent or even cheap end...buyer's were happy with the prices :)

Anyhoo great list. A great starting point for anyone looking to buy/sell.

Also if anyone is selling a Ninja Gaiden 2 for $75.00 LET ME KNOW!!! :)

Hope your health improves as quickly as 1 credit lasts on Yo Noid!

Thanks for the input. Just so this thread doesn't become some pitty party for me I will try to keep things interesting by talking about PlayChoice related tidbits that not everyone knows about. Maybe a few controversial PC10 titles. I'll make it my way of blogging about what I know and also keeping the thread bumped. Maybe I will be able to boost my reputation a bit from my factoid thread bumps...wink wink.

That will begin tomorrow.

It's cliche, but our (as in my family's) thoughts and prayers are with you. Thank you for Solar Jetman and for the price guide.

Very sorry to hear about what you are going through bro. Gift has been sent! Please take care of yourself and find out what's wrong.

Today's PlayChoie 10 factoid - BUMP

Blaster Master: Destination Fred

Last year on April 1, 2010 Sunsoft Corp. gave this press release...

Redding, CA – April 1, 2010 – Sunsoft, a division of SUNCORPORATION (JASDAQ: 6736), has today announced that Blaster Master™:Destination Fred will be released for the Wii Virtual Console on April 26th.

Originally created for the Nintendo PlayChoice-10 arcade system, and tested in only a few locations in and around Los Angeles, CA during 1989/1990, Destination Fred is a continuation of the story started in the original Blaster Master™, and a proper sequel to the beloved NES classic. The game has been lost to the market since the original test market timeframe, and was never released for the home NES. "I was blown away when I saw these", said Victor Ireland about the PlayChoice-10 cartridges stored away at Sunsoft Japan's office. He then continued, "When I was going through boxes of stored code, promotional items, and ROMS to see what we had on hand to release for the US Virtual Console market, finding these nine completely unknown cartridges literally stunned me. I knew it had to be put up on the Virtual Console as fast as we could make it happen."

The press release goes on to give the details of this exciiting new Wii Virtual Console release. At the same time as this press release, this is what appear on eBay for sale by a disgruntled ex-employee...

Of course, I had never heard of this title and the listing said "The Rarest PlayChoce 10 Gme Ever!!!" I put my bid in and started watching to see what happened (my starting bid was $500 and I was running a mile a minute in my head to see where I could come up with more $$$. I then started researching the title. I found the press release and it was even on the WikiPedia page for PlayChoice 10 games. I told my wife that I was going to be making a large purchase and that it would more than likely be over $1000. She wasn't thrilled but she said it was cool. I logged back onto eBay that afternoon and saw that the bidding had gotten to $14,000. I was majorly bummed. I went to bed a very sad NERD.

I got up the next morning to find that the listing had ben pulled. I was sure that someone from Sunsoft saw it and had pursued the lister or a deal had been struck off eBay...

NOPE!!! It was all an April Fool's Day joke from Sunsoft. They posted on their website that they had fabricated the eBay listing, the listing's photos, the Wiki entry, and was lying in the press release.

I felt so dumb. They did an amazingly elaborate job and I give them props for that.

Anyways, thanks to everyone who has helped me out and I will post another factoid-BUMP tomorrow.

Today's Topic - Pay Attention To Details

On May 14, 2011, an auction listing endedon eBay. No big deal, right??? It happens numerous times a minute. What makes this special (just wait) is that the listing was for two PROTOTYPE PLAYCHOICE 10 game PCBs. Those are the exact descriptive words in the listing's title. The games were Bases Loaded and Racket Attack. Here are the photos that were supplied with the listing...

If the listing sounded amazing, that's because it was. It was amazing that someone purchased it for what they paid. I apologize if that person is a member o this forum but I will ezplain my reasons for my statement.

Take a look at the first photo. It is clear that the lister is using the modified custom bios chip in his machine. When I asked him to take a picture of the games in a motherboard that had the original BIOS, I got no reply. The problem is that with the custom BIOS you can alter the titles display on the menu for any game.

The next two pictures look great. It shows the title screens on an arcade game. No problems there as far as I could tell.

If you look at the last photo, you will see where the biggest problems lie. The games were clearly other games originally and someone marked out the original titles. Also, you can tell that the EPROMs are buned and and have crude labels on the chips. I contacted the seller about this as well as any supporting documentation or proof that these were legit. He said he got them from an old Nintendo employee who told him about them and if I needed any other proof I could contact Nintendo myself. He hadapparently gotten frustrated by all of my questions. Maybe he was told all that by someone in the past and was just listing what he thought he had. I, howevr, believed they were just simple PC10 rom hacks so I did not bid.

The worst part of it allwas that the winning bidder ended up paying...$226.27!!!!!!!!!

The bid got too high for me...But I thought something was fishy about them games. Happy I didn't bid of them..Oh thanks for the Price Guide. It was very interesting on how you broke down the games and what some are going for now. I guess it really depends on how bad somebody wants it..but thanks and get better.

I purchased several games from that seller, but did not bid on the "prototype" games. I really wanted confirmation they were factory-modified carts, like that the "instructions" button worked and featured factory-style instructions. My single monitor PC-10 has a modified bios chip, and it disables the instructions feature on any game I run on it (at least that's how my modified bios chip works). In exchange for no instructions, I've renamed the games on there very creatively! :p
