Was visiting family and the conversation turned to video games. Father in Law mentioned he saw a Pacman a few blocks away on the side of a house. We drover over there and it was still there, complete I might add. I talked to the owner and he said he just wanted it out of there but I paid the guy $20.

Looks like it was converted to a Ms Pac (has the daughter card on the PCB) and a MS Pac marquee. Cab is solid, but will need some sanding and paint work for sure as the outside is a bit rough in places.

Insides are very clean beyond the bent pins and broken rom where it looks like someone ripped the daughter card off the PCB.

I haven't had time to test anything or mess with it yet but I'll get there!

Here it is lying in the truck awaiting the trip home

The kids were ready to play it the moment it was unloaded, they had to settle for Pacman on my mame cab instead for now :)

how long was it outside? Apparently not long. I thought for sure it would have some damage from the elements.

At least 3 weeks, maybe longer, but he had it under the overhanging roof of a shed before moving it by the house (or so he said). The back cab door was lying out in the grass and its warped and swelled like no one's business but I can't find any evidence of water on or in the cab itself. No swelling or seep marks on the inside. It appears the cab didn't get wet.

I'll be making a new rear cover for the cab and doing some filling and sanding in a few places where it took a beating over the years but all in all its pretty darn solid.

In way better shape then I was expecting when I heard about it and hadn't seen it yet!

The crazy thing was the guy I got it from actually acted like I was being overly generous by giving him $20! When I went to hand him the money he said "I said you can take it, you WANT to pay me?"

lol it all went well and he took the money.

The weather around here has been very hot lately. And WA isn't too humid, so out of all the times a cabinet shouldn't be outside (pretty much always) I'd say this is the best of the times...

Nice score... I'll give you a quick turn around and double your money for you, $40 :p

Its a keeper for me. Always wanted one, just never wanted to pay the prices people here in WA seem to want for them.

Thanks!

if you plan to redo the sideart your going to be in the same boat as me trying to find decals or stencils, but it looks in good shape

yeah I was looking online and its grim. lol. I think I can touchup the few areas that need it. First thing is to get the ole' girl up and running with 4-pac roms and then I'll get to the cab. Its def had a MS Pac conversion. I removed the mspac card and the roms are labeled mspac conv Y, Z and 4 others the labels came off. The PCB looks to be in great shape minus two areas that need work. I think I can bring this one back without too much trouble

I gotta bring the cab back to full life :) I love that original cab, the colors and eveyrthing. Always wanted one.

My kids are excited, so far this is their pac experience... Its an unfinished MAME cab but it does function fully and I didn't put a VGA monitor in it! It outputs 15khz. and has 4 way ball tops. It plays solid but still not the real deal in my mind but I will admit its hard to tell when playing it :)

According to my son its not pacman either, its the "ghost game" ah the mind of a 4 year old

That is really not that bad. The marquee and T-molding are awful but the rest of the cosmetics and cabinet itself look pretty good. No rust on the CP or anything. Any signs of life yet?

Not yet, I have to replace the RAM at 2D and 2C. It literally looks like someone or something ripped the tops right off them. Other than that the PCB looks to be in very good shape. No idea on the display either. I'm trying to finish a fence project in the backyard so I haven't had much time to dig into it yet. I can't wait though... I do a little happy dance every time I walk past it.
