my Official Samtron 6" monitor conversion kit FS thread

I'll take them.

I'm working on getting one of these monitors and I am going to look at 3D printing a box to hold it.
I hadn't looked at my monitors yet to see the practicality of it, but I was also thinking of 3D printing something because the cardboard is not all that durable. One of mine has split cardboard. If you do it, be sure to post about it please!

I'll probably make the files available if I do it.

Yeah I have his remaining boards but the parts he originally listed online to populate it arent all available so I've been dragging my feed on figuring out the equivalent parts

Wow this is neat. If you end up selling any of your old monitor stock I'd be interested in one. Can't believe the necro-bumps are still getting relevant replies.

Since 3D printed frames came up here, I wanted to share the frame I designed and printed. It was kinda tough because the length of the cardboard box is greater than the dimensions of my print bed (ender 3), so I had to shorten it as much as possible, down to 232.9mm. Even then, I wouldn't have been able to print it with stock firmware. I've installed marlin, customized to print to the extreme edges of my bed and this print literally uses the full width to the point were an extra 0.5mm would mean printing off the left and right edges of the bed. The frame barely extends past the pcb and neck board, so I couldn't make it much shorter than it already is. I could've printed upward to give a little more breathing room but decided this was the best way for me to go overall. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I'm sure creative 3D printed part designers could come up with something better and if someone does, I'd love to see it.

BTW it's designed to work with cdjump's adapter board as you can see sticking out of the side with the cable attached.

That looks GREAT!

Would you be willing to share the file for this so other 3D print artists could use it?

I have a couple of these monitors and the cardboard box they are housed in is so flimsy they are unusable.

I have a 3D print fanatic friend that is always looking for 3D print projects for stuff that would really be used. This would definitely really be used.

I don't mind publishing it but just make sure your friend can print something that's 233mm long. That's probably too large for many if not most consumer printers. Might be a few days before I can get it onto thingiverse.

So awesome! I love how creative and resourceful the peeps around here are! I want this setup so bad!

I talked with him. He can. Any chance you can send it direct to me via email (if that's possible, I don't know how those things work)? I'm supposed to stop by his place on Monday.

Uploaded and documented on thingiverse. I'm sure he knows how to work with thingiverse so you could just give him the link. Or you could download the files from this link yourself. You'll want to read the documentation there for required hardware and whatnot. LMK how this works out for you!

Sweet! Thank you very much. Hopefully I'll have a nice cage for mine soon.

Though not essential, I decided to add a back to my monitor frame. Provides a bit of extra protection for the neck board, and it also feels a little more complete this way, even though the boxes these monitors come in don't have a back.

I keep looking for the credit card number entry field here, but I don't see it :)

3d print file for the back please?

It's there on the thingiverse page. How did your print turn out?
My 3D printing buddy, on his first two printers, they did not like the file. He's trying his bigger printer this week.

If it doesn't work there, would you be willing to discuss with him to try to get it figured out? If so, can you email me, so I can get you in touch with him? [email protected] joemagiera at ameritech dot net. Thanks,

Joe
