I don't buy games very often. I am not rich and really don't have the room, but this one was too good to pass up. I have wanted a Millipede for a while. I see one on craigslist, email him, and everything works out flawlessly. Nobody swooped in on the deal, the guy turned out to be really nice.

And it was 2.7 miles from my house which was nice as well.

This is only my second Atari game. Any suggestions on things to work on? Should I rebuild the AR just as preventative maintenance? I already need to fix the monitor that I bought it with (matsushita 202-g)

Also need to fix the right front corner by the control panel. Not sure how I am going to do that since it looks like someone tried to fix it with plaster or something soft, which is all cracked up and loose.

He was asking 225, but I ended up giving him 230 cause I didn't have any 5's. I didn't even try to talk him down, I thought it was a good price. Especially all the new parts it has on it.

I believe the monitor problem was the brightness pot, it fell apart as soon as I tried to adjust it, and the screen went black. I put in a spare 4900 I had for now.

Here is the craigslist ad text:

Atari Arcade Game - $225 (GR)
Up for sale is a mostly-working Atari Millipede arcade game. Track ball was recently rebuilt with new bearings and rollers. Game has new locks/keys and works and plays great. Not too long ago the flyback on the monitor went out - I pulled the monitor, installed a new flyback and cap kit - and now the monitor is very dim. It could be a setting needing adjustment, it could be poor soldering - I'm not sure, but since I was planning on selling it anyway, it's as-is and have adjusted the price accordingly. Artwork on both sides and front is crisp/vibrant and in great shape. There is a ding on the right edge near the control panel/t-molding that has been patched, bit does not affect artwork. I've tried to be as descriptive as possible, but feel free to email with any questions. Thanks for looking!

To help fix that corner, trace the other side on a scrap piece of wood. Then use Bondo, build/apply it high then sand down to the traced pattern on the scrap piece of wood. Measure, sand, repeat, repeat.

Color match the paint and feather it into the old.

Just my 2 cents...

Hey, that looks familiar. :]

As for the patch job on the side - it was like that when I got it, so not really sure what was going on there. Wasn't sure I'd be able to match the original artwork, so I left it alone.

This is the first time I've sold a game and then seen it in someone else's house. Millipede being the first game I'd ever bought, it's especially odd - but glad you like it! It was cool meeting you!

It's a great game. I have always loved it and used to play it mostly on the atari 800. But now with the real thing it is so much better.

I wish I had the space and money to get that pinball or gauntlet from you, but I am happy for now.

And it definitely wasn't as easy to move inside by myself as I thought it was going to be. People in the apartment complex seem to look at you strange when you have a millepede on the steps for 20 min or so contemplating on how to get it up one full step by yourself. Getting it down the 5 steps inside was a breeze.

Very nice pickup, and great price, I love my Millipede. As to what to do with it, leave the 4900 in there, throw the Matsushitty on a shelf as a backup and order the Braze centi/multi kit. I got the cap kit from Bob to rebuild the AR in mine, haven't gotten around to doing that yet. I don't think it'd hurt to do it if the caps are old, if you've got the parts/cash and the time, I say go for it. Other than all that, play the hell out of it and enjoy it, that's job #1. :)
