Since I live here in Las Vegas and have the luxury of playing just about any Pin @ the pinball HOF, I decided to pick this up at auction today. I played it almost as much as TZ & MM but since I cannot find those locally I moved on this one for a good price IMO. I'll have it home tonight. If anyone has a Spidey and has any worthy mods I should do please alert me.
Thanks
Chris

Nice pin. What did you pay?

Make sure you get the plastic protectors, especially for the sandman plastic. That thing takes a beating.

Steve richie productions makes some cool mods .

Mike

over 3 under 35, thanks I'll look into the steve richie stuff. I still might use this as trade bait towards something I could not find locally. However I really so like the game and was looking at the cointaker LED kit.

The only thing I did to mine was plastic protectors and a shaker. With it being an 07 should be easy to add the shaker as the wiring is already there.

Gratz on the game guests love it.

Not a fan of LEDs on Spidey. The villain insterts have 3 levels of intensity depending on how much time you've defeated each one....LEDs just don't handle that well...they flicker like crazy instead of increasing in brightness. It's a well lit game with regular bulbs...just use LEDs in the spotlights...that functionally brightens the games and the toys, while letting everything else work as designed.

Noflix Plus don't exhibit this behavior and I should be getting some of Cointakers Premiums to test out this week. But ya, SM is a bastard with LEDs in it to try and get rid of the issues with LEDs in general.

I'm lost on what these last few post are saying ???? Are you guys saying the Cointaker LED's are not good or ?

I generally don't like LED conversions of incandescent games. It's not as if Spider-man is dark and hard to see.

I would put Cointaker super or ultras in the Spotlights ONLY.

Warm White in Sandman, Cool White in Venom & Doc Ock, Green in Goblin.

Green LED Flasher in the socket under Norman Osborne on the left plastic.

People tend to "over color" Spider-Man and it looks like shit. I saw one last night. Red lights under the slings, blue in the Spidey-Sense area, green under the whole left side....it makes the plastics the wrong colors, gives you less natural lights spread on the playfield..it's a mess. I've seen people put all blue in the Venom section...why should Venom be blue? He wasn't in Avatar. I've seen red spotlight on Doc Ock, making him look like Hellboy. Unfortunately people in pinball often have the gaudiest tastes when it comes to lighting mods.

Did you get this for 3,400 in the anaheim auction?

I was bidding on it as well. As soon as it that price i was blooown away, especially after that buyer's premium kicks in that was definitely a pricey one!

Nice score though!

Ya I had to bite on it love spidey and I can't find crap here, and the shipper owed me a free pickup and delivery. It workd out in the end. Cabinet is clean playfield is very dirty. Oh well, I'll have it looking like new in no time

Nice pickup! I went to play iron man on a location and discovered I really liked spiderman.. So I had to get one.. Thanks to a fellow klover, I was able to buy a home owned one..

I bought mat mckee spiderman topper. I think it looks nice and you can get it at pinballlife. I think if someone could make a moving search light(or lights) to illuminate it, it would be really cool..

Steve ritchie has some cool side rails.. I needed some regular rails for my LOTR, so I spent a bit more for these and will put the old ones on LOTR. ..

backalley creations makes a few mods. I think they are a bit too much of a mod... maybe if I saw them on a pin...
a bulidings mod
a train mod
and a sandman mod
plus a few more.

Best Stern ever.

Looks like yours is missing the Sandman and Venom toys.

Nice score!? How is winning a dirty auction game with fees & tax & shipping a nice score? It's missing toys! How does that even happen? I can't imagine what else is wrong with it.

Interesting to know the phone bids at the Anaheim auction are "real people", though....I just always assume they're fake when the prices start getting nutty. Pretty much guarantees us locals will never get a good auction deal though...meh.

Nice score as in congrats to him for getting a pin he wanted.

Also, from what I hear, the locals were in full force running up the price on a large portion of items in this auction. After talking with the owner Chris we had a good laugh at how the locals really helped him clean up this time. A ton of one-off buyers looking to pay retail for one or two games. I have been going to these auctions for some time now, and the prices this time were insaaaane!

What did the other pins go for this time?

I've been to many Captains Auctions but have never bought anything...prices pretty much always go out of line for the condition. The ONE good deal a few auctions back was a really nice Austin Powers w/ no art wear by the flipper buttons - I think it went for $900....even after tax/fees, that was still a good deal. Had I not already had one of those games in the past, I would have totally bought that.

There were only a few pins there this time, smallest selection I have seen there yet. Johnny Mnemonic ($1300-ish), Spiderman, Sopranos, Ripley's, El Toro, Paragon (broken) I think that's it.

There are still great deals/steals to be had, just usually with the vids and not pins.

Sopranos was like $2300 for about $2700 total. Really clean, so probably the best deal overall

Johnny Mnemonic was like $1300 I think

Monopoly went for like $2200 and was massively broken in sections. This was insane to me to see

Ripleys was around $2200 mark as well

At my last auction I got the Stern harley pin for $1900 (2242 total) With shipping and all I was in it for like 2650 and sold it up here for $3200.

I also bought the fish tales for $1000 and was in it for around $1350 once up here. Sold that one for $1900 all cleaned up
