This was listed on my local craigslist earlier, so I went over to check it out.

It is not working, so a repair thread will be coming asap.
When you turn it on, there is a light on the PCB, and both start buttons are lit, but nothing else. I do have neck glow, so the monitor appears to be working.

My CPO also seems to be different than normal, any thoughts there? This is my first vector, so it should be fun learning.

The "owl eye" coin door would indicate it is an early production run as well. Unles, of course, someone swapped it at a later date.

Have you tried putting a credit on it and then pressing start to see if you get sound? It might be playing blind.

Congrats... welcome to Asteroids ownership. I am currently waiting on my board to be repaired so I can finally fire it up. Flip the test switch just inside the coin door, and look at the start buttons. If they flash repeatedly, you may have a board problem. Turn the brightness up on the monitor when you have it on, it may have been turned down in the past- then you can look for the "spot killer," which will appear as a bright dot in the center of the screen which tells you the monitor may not be getting a signal.

I believe LostArcade's Asteroids has that same CP. But anyways Congratulations on a vector!

My test switch appears to be gone, but I used a wire to connect them, and the start lights stayed lit.

I also messed with the brightness and contrast, and no matter what, the monitor just stays dark.

When did you get it? Looks awfully nice my friend. Really nice my friend! Hope you enjoy playing it!

A good place to start would be checking the voltages. Then look through the old posts on Asteroids. I know myself and Kent were both dealing with dead Asteroids at about the same time, maybe a year ago. Naturally look at replacing that Big Blue. I'm liking that control panel. Good luck, and congrats on what looks to be a great score. That's one of the best.

The test switch can be located in two places... one is right inside the coin door where the volume is located, and the other is actually on the coin door. I first thought mine was missing, but looked on the coin door and found it. It's a revision that some of the documentation may not contain.

Nice machine. I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you get it going.

Interesting combo of parts. Does it still have the serial number sticker on it? If so, what's the serial number.

Owl eye door, 802 monitor not 801.

Coin door is not hooked up probably becuase it is missing the adapter. I also think I see tape with a 4 digit number on it ala Quarter Arcade. Maybe that's where it came from and is not original.

If it was originally an owl eye machine then it should have had an 801 monitor. If someone just slapped an 802 in it wouldn't it need an adapter harness?

Probably best to start with the test switch. If that fails or isn't there, start by checking voltages.

Serial is 28771

If you look at this picture you can see I'm missing the test switch, and you are correct that the coin door is not hooked up because it doesn't match up, it all needs re-wired. You can see the two wires hanging out, which I assume are the test switch wires.
Is there anywhere I can grab the original type of switch for this to get back in here? Like I said, I tried jumping the wires together to no avail.

When you connected the test switch, did you power it off and back on while it was still connected? Any difference when you do that? Turn the volume up also....you may here test codes.

Asteroids

I have never owned an Asteroids with a Willis overlay until last week. I picked one up in central IL. It had just came from St Louis. The other came from the Indiana, Kentucky border. When it rains, it pours I guess.

If the lights are lit solid. You need to check your voltages. If they are fine. You have a board issue. The neck glow just means your 6.3 v for the neck heater is working. Not nescarrily meaning the monitor is working. After you find the voltage is incorrect. Start with the Big blue then go from there. Your coindoor seems to have the adapter harness. It is just not plugged in. The monitor is a G05-802. The correct one for that SN. I think the coin door has been retrofitted.

Oh, I have parts if you need them. These 2 will be sold in one piece but I have parts for 2 or 3 more but no cabs.
