I cant believe I finally have this in my home, been wanting this cab for years but always found them way overpriced. A couple of weeks ago I was looking through craigs list and this happen to pop up, I emailed the guy and set on a price of $600 which I thought was a fair deal.

The cab was a bit dirty but gave it a good cleaning. Its in really good shape, there are knicks on the side art but nothing major. The control panel didn't come with any plexi cover but I have already got with someone here about that.

The monitor looks good and the game sounds awesome! I defiantly have to replace the Marquee and the rusted screws on the control panel. Even without the plexi cover its in really great shape. One thing that does bother me is the t-molding on the right side, seems somebody got careless with their cigarette smoking :/

Im also going to replace the joysticks and buttons (micro switches as well) I notice that the controls randomly stop responding. Everything looks original inside the cab. The Harddrive that its running is soldered to the board which (Mitsurugi-w) let me know the backstory on this.

Ive been reading on the forum about joysticks and buttons and everyone seems to like the Euro sticks, wheres a good place to purchase those? I want to take it back to its blue sticks and button layout.

Here are some pics...

If you don't have a button wrench get it. It will save you a lot of cussing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHERRY-MAST...976?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c06953ca8

Tell him to replace the start buttons with plain white buttons as that's what came with the dedicated machine.

As for the cherry switches I bet any money there is a lot of dirt buildup on them. I cleaned mine right up with a wire brush and are currently in my Blitz '99 they had messed up cherry switches.

I wouldnt sell mine if I had to, its a great game. It gets the most play when people come over, kids especially like it.
Can you guess my favorite character?

Jago? haha just messin. Ya it's great. No one wants to play with me because they don't like losing. So I'm the only 1 that plays my MK and KI which kinda sucks. Everyone else likes my pachislo machine and my Blitz '99

Sweet man! Glad you got one of your grails. :D The cab looks really pretty too, you did a great job cleaning it up.

Congrats! I don't think I'll ever be lucky enough to find one out here without having to convert a diff cab into KI..

I do want to know what's up with this: "The Harddrive that its running is soldered to the board which (Mitsurugi-w) let me know the backstory on this."

Hard drive soldered to the board? What if it fails? Would you be able to replace it?

I thought the same thing but it happened! I had to drive a total of like 8 hours but that's ok.

The hard drive itself isn't soldered to the pcb but rather the power leads for the HD. The very first any HD kits for KI required you to tap the 5v and 12v from somewhere. The instructions actually said to solder it to the bottom of the Jamma pins. Running longer wires to the power supply would have been cleaner.

Have the other KI owners on this forum branded you yet? All of us get branded as part of the initiation as a KI owner. It hurts, and it means you can never get rid of your machine, but it's necessary.

Thanks for the info and links guys..... Branded? IM DOWN FOR LIFE!

Will update with more pics after I've gotten the cover, new sticks and buttons.

Would it be wise to touch up the scratches with black paint? Or should I leave it as is? If so any specific kind of paint?

I don't think happ sells quite the same shade of blue as the original KI buttons or sticks. Why would you get rid of your buttons anyway? They look fine.

The buttons and sticks I got on ebay are very close in color to what I took off the machine.
At first I thought they were darker, but after putting them side by side they are really close.
I'm almost positive the ones on my machine were originals based on the wear to the sticks.

Dang, and here I thought you had taken a break from the hobby!

Oh right, that's me.
