Yah, kind of odd to brag about a pickup just to mention you are going to sell it. Must be a flipper.....

Just picked it up and I dont really care for it - To much stop and go I am going to get a spider man I think - Theres no where around here to try them out before hand so I tried it and dont care for it so on to the next machine.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to turn it because you don't like it. Sounds like you got hit by the Hype bug.
Just odd how you started a thread about something that appears you'll be keeping and are excited about is why the ration of shit.
FWIW - I currently don't much care for TSPP either :)

In that case, how many plays do you have on it? If you haven't played the game 75 times don't get rid of it. The game is so deep, it takes time to learn the modes, shots and strategies. This is not a pick up and play game but extremely rewarding once you learn the rules.

If you've given it 75-100 plays and you still don't like it, I can understand stop-and-go being annoying. I've had TSPP, and I currently have SM, TSPP is the better game, but not if your looking for flow and action. TSPP has strategy, rules, and humor going for it though.

Yeah, pretty douche move, I think. Look what I'm going to flip, everyone! If you sell it for more than 3200, who cares.

John Rainbow - I think if your not interested in the thread you should probably just move on - I can post anything I want you aren't required to read it. I wasn't rude to anyone but you have shown the type of person you are. Grow Up dude.

TSPP is a great game, but different strokes for different folks. You can't really go wrong with SM either, so if TSPP doesn't do it for you, why not.

I agree though if you haven't really played it much or don't really know the rules. Try and at least learn them, then see how you feel.

I'll pass. Posting how you got something to flip pisses me off. I see (now) that you changed the thread name... smart move.

I agree you should give it a while to decide. I have one, when I first got it I thought it would be something I'd keep a few months, have my way with it, then let it go. The rule set is so good it's really grown on me. It's a game that you might really like more as you play it, give it a good chance. It does have a lot of stop and go, but it's also very challenging, takes a lot to get a hang of it. The multi-ball modes are pretty fast, AI certainly isn't stop and go once you have it running, once you start stacking modes you're rarely waiting for anything.

I agree that you need to give it some time. TSPP can be an aggravating game. At times playing it can seem like work. And just learning the rules is no simple feat in itself. But it can also be really satisfying, and it is challenging. Sometimes I don't even consider playing it because I'm just not up digging in for the challenge. Other times I get done with a session and I'm really glad I have the game.

Final Thoughts

Ok - I played about 60 games of The Simpsons Pinball Party - It just wasn't for me there are Five main issues that I didn't like -

1 - When you hit the loop that goes to ottos bus the ball is held and you get the quote "Your the coolest Otto" This is completely useless and kills the flow. My opinion is it just should have been a rollover switch and flowed right back down to the flippers. (This would have made a huge improvement in my book)

2 - When you make it up to the living room the delay in getting the ball back in play is way to long how many times do i need to see the animated homer looking through the box. Other animations through the game that are very good and unique you don't see because you are concentrating on the ball.

3 - If this is your only game and you have friends over to play a few games the ball time is so long that everyone looses interest waiting for their turn. The family also doesn't want to play a 4 player game for the same reason. ( To me pinball is supposed to be fast and exciting allowing you to compete with your friends and family for the high score side by side)

4 - Spelling Simpsons when homer is attempting to guess what you are spelling get old fast especially when you do it multiple times on one ball and you get to simpson and he acts like he doesn't know what its going to be when you had just gone through this a few minutes ago.

5 - The TV modes/ missions can be confusing you really need to study the rules to understand what you need to do to complete the mode. I personally would have liked some verbal cues or specific lighting as to what I should be aiming for.

On a side note the jokes at moes are good like the hugh jass etc... but once you have heard them a few times it looses its fun and humor for me kinda like watching reruns.

Another area that to me could be improved is the speed the ball returns from the living-room down the monorail. Maybe a steeper incline or a different ramp type.

There are allot of good features also, I do like the stacked modes and it does get allot more fun when you get the couch multi ball and the itchy and scratchy multi-ball together.

The Play-field artwork is perfect (Very Colorful and tons to look at)

The voice work is very good.

Alien Invasion is really great ,reversing the flippers is awesome.

I did get a new machine its a Theatre of Magic with all the lights replaced with leds and The family and I are really enjoying it, We had friends over and everyone had allot of fun together playing.

Hope I didn't offend anyone just my 2 cents for what its worth - Thanks to everyone who had positive comments!

Well issues 1, 2, and 3 can be solved by simply taking a swig of your favorite beverage while waiting, haha. Then the wait won't be so bad and you'll actually start shooting the shots just for the chance to do it.

All kidding aside, it sounds like your into games that just flow, and I think SM would definitely scratch that itch for you. You might want to consider LOTR too. Its got a deep ruleset like TSPP, but a lot more flow, not quite SM, but still a great game.

don't really understand the stop and go people complain about with this game, i mean it starts modes? And when you start a mode that stalls gameplay for the cutscenes, all you have to do is hit both flipper buttons and the ball ejects, ending the cutscene. The mother of all stop and go games is Jurassic Park, and there is no override unfortunately.

I've never really found the stops and starts to be a problem in TSPP or JP. But everyone has their own preferences.

Shoot, I have to wait for the mothership to blow up in AFM, and wait for the animations after you lock a ball and start multiball. The SOL hole slows things down as you have to wait for it to select an award or kick the ball out. My point is not to belittle Tron1969's opinion, but AFM is known as one of the big "flowing" games and even it has its stops and starts.

I think anyone who complains about "Stop and go" without any other context is just parroting what they hear other pinball people saying. Even Spider-Man, the coveted flowiest of flow - has stops....Doc Ock stops, the pops stop, the ball lock shot stops....Simpsons may not always have speedy ramp/loop flow, but it certainly has "gameplay flow" ...this to this to this to this...defined combos - very satisfying if you make your shots. I can see complaining about "Stop and Go" on something like IJ4...because it happens from A.) Poor design and B.) Repetitive shots that sometimes make you wait a long time, and this happens over and over and over.
