My new arcade room project

I might paint the ceiling, but I think I'll wait until the summer time for that, since I will likely have to spray paint the ceiling tiles to get even coverage. I just can't see doing roller paint in black.

This weekend I'll try and get the games all put back and see how things look.

I asked the painter about whether or not to paint the condiut, and he and I both agreed it was cooler to leave it silver. Sort of adds to the industrial feel, I guess. Most likely I will try to get some sort of waist high bar table and chairs made from reclaimed plumbing pipes to keep the warehouse motif going.

Maybe you can take them down and paint them with a roller. The ceiling would look like a really cool Tron grid since the metal would still be white.

My thoughts are along those lines too, but I think I might actually black out the tracks into a 1/4 sized Ms Pac board. I'll paint the remaining tracks with UV reflective paint, and add ghosts and dots.

I was messing with my DSLR camera tonight (trying to bring it back from the dead....) and I found a few more pics of the floor application when the epoxy was being put down:

That floor is sweet. What did you use and where did you get it? I think I may want to do that to my garage-cade.

Updates!

I picked up a bunch of X10 wall receptacles this winter, and I will be installing them in the conduit outlets this week. I'm also going to re-space the outlets to better match my game lineups, so I can have an outlet between each pair of games. Not sure why I didn't measure THAT out before.... :(

The X10 receptacles have one switched and one 'always on' outlet each, so I'll be putting a pair of them in each double gang box. As long as I have a box between each pair of games, I should have no problem laying this out properly.

What did you do for lighting?

Any pics?

Thanks.

I have two types of lights:

  1. 1 row of 4 foot fluorescent fixtures with black light tubes down the center of the room
  2. recessed 2x4 fixtures for 'shop lighting' when I work on games

Sorry about the quality of the black light photo - my point & shoot doesn't have customizable ISO settings. The effect is actually very cool.
