Some of you may have seen what a disaster area my workroom can become.

Even cleaning it up, I was still not happy:

Well I got sick of it this past month and decided to take action. This room is a good size, and would make a nice arcade, since it already has two rows of outlets running down the walls on 2 separate circuits.

So, I began stripping the room.

And I'm relocating my basement workshop to my furnace room.

Of course, all of this happens while I'm in the middle of a few large projects, one of them for Bongoben. But I was stuck for 2 weeks waiting on artwork, so I decided to take action.

Once I get the countertops installed, that will pretty much mean that everything is moved out of the old workroom, and I can begin laying out how my new arcade will look. This will be a ground up build, and will likely take several months over the winter, but it will give me something to work on. Plus, I have pledged that I will NOT be buying any more cabinets until this project is complete. I need the space.

Update: I took a few days off work b/c my Father in law is here this weekend, and I was able to finish moving the countertop into the new workroom. I ended up having to trim 6 inches off it, requiring me to trim a door. There was also a bunch of rotten wood in the back, so I spent the better part of the day replacing that.

Pics coming soon.

Does that little trailer bounce like crazy going down the road?

Only when it's empty. When it has a load, it rides just fine. It has torsion springs in the axles, they start flexible, then stiffen as they travel further. Really smooths out the bumps.

I wish it were about 4 inches wider, however. Tough to fit two cabs side-by-side.

Another update. Pulling up the old floor tile:

And, after a bit more work, all done!

Now, to get started on walls, ceiling lights, and flooring options.

Speaking of flooring options, I'm thinking of going with a dark gray epoxy floor, and will include a medium broadcast of UV reflective flakes.

Just to get an idea of what the effect will look like, I decided to throw down a back door of one of my cabs and sprinkle the flake samples I got from the flooring guy:

Looks pretty fricken cool in my sample conditions. Should be REALLY cool in the full floor application.

The obligitory sketchup file

Here's the latest sketchup file as it stands right now.

I'm leaving the lounging and seating area near the pins, since they seem to get the most multi-person play. That will give folks a place to sit/drink/converse while they wait for play.

The vids will be at the far side of the room, in a 'hall' of sorts.
