My MultiWilliams restore...

Not much of an update, but here's a comparison of what I started with and where I'm at now after the semi gloss black. You can see the reflection of the towel around the hand truck. I still need to paint in the areas too small for the foam roller...

I got to the coin doors today in between visiting with the in-laws. They were in decent shape so just a bit of work with the wire wheel on my drill and then 2 coats of the hammered finish spay paint:

Looking good. What brand of paint did you use for both spray and regular canned?

Thanks man. I used oil-based Rustoleum semi-gloss black for the cabinet since I'll be stenciling it. From what I understand, latex is a no-no when working with stencils. I'll be using Rustoleum rattle cans for each stencil color. For the coin door, I use Rustoleum hammered finish.

Looking good. How did the hammered finish turn out on the coin doors? I've never used it before. Do you spray it smooth and then it gets the texture as it drys?

It turns out nice! I've use it on all my coin doors. It's not powder coating, but our games don't take the kind of abuse that they would on location, so it's fine for me. The paint actually sits up as you spray it. Lots of sweeping sprays to cover it- I usually do 2 coats just to make sure everything is covered.

Well, not too much getting done on this with the weather, my travel schedule and the kids' activities. But I did get a small window of time to put the final coat on the cabinet and finish the control panel.

I picked up the repro metal cp from JimFly. I primed the control panel:

Added the Phoenix Arcade cpo:

I headed over to Lowe's to pick up the paint for the Joust 2 stencils:

Hopefully, I'll get the stencils done next weekend... fingers crossed!

Since I was home waiting for a plumber today, I got a chance to put the first stencil down on the cab. A nice, bright orange for Joust 2:

I think Jim's sold out. A Fresh batch of MW cpos were shipped to me today..
Should have them late next week. I'll have a drilling guide as well for making
your own CP as a free download. I plan on making more MW metal CPs once
Jrok resurfaces with more MW boards.

Nice Job on the first stencil. Any trouble removing the stencil?

Mike

Here's the second color- bright yellow:

I tried a few "overspray" places (bottom of joust pole), but I don't think I like the look of it. I'll stick with clean edges for the rest of the way. I also covered the circle for the registered trademerk spot. It was cut out on the left side of the Williams "W", which seemed wrong.
