with the addition of the bezel yesterday, i have proclaimed this to be completed. started out as a sinistar cab converted to willow, which i got gutted with all the stuff gone aside from a limited amount of wiring harness. i pulled that all out, and initially wire it up jamma and threw a g07 in there so i could play some jamma boards.
well, as i love williams games, it was chewing away at me to get a jrok board to multi this, so i finally did. sold my space invaders to finance the jrok board as well as the marquee and cpo. then, i spent monday thru wednesday of last week sanding, painting, and installing all the parts. capped the monitor, repainted the coin door and coin vault door, and installed bob robert's jamma harness with all it's pretty molex connections so i can take shit apart as needed... and it looks nice, to boot. finally, with the addition of the bezel last night, i can say this is completed.
without a doubt, the hardest thing about the multi williams build is building it on the narrow style williams cab (sinistar, bubbles.) so, if this helps anyone, here's what i did. through arcadeoverlays.com, i got their multi williams marquee art and cpo, and had them resized to 22 7/8", which is the width of the stuff on the smaller cabs. i did the same with the bezel art, which i sent in to them to have printed.
also, control panel wise, i didn't want to drop the $75 on a new metal panel so i ended up bondoing and redrilling holes for the new layout. i took off the 1/8 or so thick metal top piece, and sanded down the curve to flatten it out, as it left a lip on the front edge of wood.
but, i want to let anyone with the narrower cab know, it is easy to multi williams it artwise, you just have a lot more hoops to jump through to make everything come together. but it can be done.
so, here are two pics, the before, and after. i didn't document the entire build, but i took the important pics. and i've been playing a shitload of robotron.
