I have an Arch Rivals that was playing blind, coin-up and sound worked fine.
I rebuilt the WellsGardner monitor with new caps, flyback, HOT, voltage regulator, some new resistors. Had to repair two traces and a lifted pad also. First time for me on everything but the cap kit, HOT, and flyback I had done before.
Before installing the monitor, the game was still playing blind yesterday.
Installed the monitor today, fired it up, game totally dead. Checked fuse at power brick, blown. Realized I had wired the 3-wire molex connector for power to the monitor wrong. (Mixed up ground with one of the others)
Reversed the wires, new fuse, fired up, fuse blew again.
Replaced fuse, disconnected power to monitor, game powers up, but sound is dead. I can hear static when I play with the volume pot and its wires to the sound board. Plugged in monitor molex connector, game dead, fuse blown.
Should I start from scratch and test/rebuild the power brick now or is it still the monitor I should be dealing with? At one point a couple months ago I tried to put a G07 in this game, there was a spark at the neckboard, and the G07 is now dead.
Could either me wiring the ac supply wrong or just not repairing the chassis correctly have blown the power supply/sound board?
