I have a monitor that was fully gone over. Recapped. Resoldered most spots on the chassis. Originally it didn't work at all, but now everything looks very clear, but the images look like their being shot from 3 spots. Almost like an uncolaberated/unsinked projector screen tv. I thinking it's a bad tube, but I was hoping for some other opinions before I start looking for another tube. Any advice would be very appreciated!

Looks like someone spun the purity rings behind the yoke, or the yoke is loose or not set right. What make/model is it, and can you post a pic of the yoke on the back of the pic tube?

Thanks for the response! Here's the best pics I could take. My phone is unfortunately my best camera.

It is a 4900, and the yoke has been moved. The convergence is off. Loosen the yoke, and readjust it until the pic lines up correctly.

From what I can tell the rings were turned - see the white spots on them? Then should line up to a reference line thats usually there when they're first aligned.

Thanks Dokert. Your right, I adjusted the yoke and it got better. When I lift up the yoke it starts to go in the right direction but I won't let me lift it up enough to sync it. It seems like the guns aren't correct. I think green is the center gun and the green is right where it should be but the blue and red are left and right and angled. Could it be a bad yoke? When I'm working on this it is amateur hour, so I could certainly be not doing something right.

I did notice that and tried to adjust it. It moved the separate colors around and I could get the different colors centered but their angled. When I lift up the yoke it starts to balance, but it won't let me lift it enough to center it.

Turn the yoke, left or right as needed in addition to lifting it up or moving it back. Also check to see if the rubber wedges have slipped, and are in your way.

slide the yoke back a touch and try it

There was a little rubber in the way which helped a little, but still not quite there. Looks like we're on the right track though. I'm going to have to pack it in for today (wedding to go to in an hour) but I'll give it another shot tomorrow. Thanks for your help guys, I really appreciate it.

The yoke has a ring stack. The first stack is for purity, if your colors are good there's no need to adjust purity.

The next two stacks control convergence. Second stack converges blue and red at the CENTER of the screen. Separating the rings moves the beams horizontally and turning them together around the yoke moves the beams vertically.

Third stack converges Magenta (Red+Blue) with green and works the same way.
Of course this may differ slightly depending on the monitor, but the means and the end are the same on all. The best way to adjust this is a screen full of white 1's and 0's or a white crosshatch pattern.

Hopefully that helps with aligning things?

Wow I've had yokes that were resting on the convergence rings, and never even looked close to that bad. Sure up and down, but never angled like that.. Hmmm.
